Yep, I’d already done some Googling and found those thanks; I was just wondering if anyone knew of a particularly good/cheap place to get them…

Sorry Mr F.
Ahh, you must mean the free kind then.
Do an agency shift for Tesco Magor, then hey presto you could have some leap into your hand.

Not necessarily - I don’t mind paying for them, but I don’t want to pay unnecessarily high prices, though…

I haven’t been offered a shift at Tesco for a few years; I guess it’s unlikely to happen in the next few weeks…
Also, not really my style - after all, I wouldn’t want to reinforce the “agency driver” stereotype…
sorry it doesn’t help you, but if you’d posted this 2 weeks ago you could’ve had the 4 i gave away

My boss used to buy mine.
sorry simon no one has said anything about you wanting any.
i’ve give most of my stuff away now, the only things i’ve kept are my container lock because if i do go back on the road containers will be one of the few jobs i could do, and for some reason i can’t fathom i couldn’t let my palm couplings go
This may seem a bit strange to you but you can get the same cord from most chandlers like Fleetwood trawler supplies for example.
Phone Curries at Bristol the biggest manufacturer of cord is www.tonybeal.com
there is a little workshop on a tiny ind estate in grays, essex.
we got ours there, virtually half price of a component/spares shop.
if you need it, i’ll ask at work tomorrow for the web address.

Just my luck. Serves me right for not getting around to it earlier…

Well, given that I don’t work in the transport industry, my boss is unlikely to know what one is, let alone buy one for me…

Yes, I’ve seen a number of places on the web where you can get the cord itself. From what I’ve seen, the nylon-cored ones are basically washing line, so that would also be a possibility. I did consider making my own cords, but I only need 2, and I suspect that the cost of the tools and parts to make them will be more than it will cost to get pre-made cords.

Do you have any more details on “Curries”? I’ve done some digging around, and all I can find are Indian restaurants…
Thanks for the Tony Beal link; I’ve just emailed them for a quote.

Is that Trevor Spurgeon? That’s one of the people I’m going to call and ask for a quote; as usual, no-one ever puts prices on their website
Mr Flibble you have a PM.

As an employed driver, I get one off the boss if I need one.
It doesn’t cost me a bean.
thats him mate.
he’s prices were very good, does quite a comprehensive catalogue iirc.
does seals too.
Try Fleetcare of Dover they do most of the trailer operators eg Norfolk Line and CCC they have a network of mobile fitters who can usually supply tir cords
