Where do you dread going?

Is this a competition for dragging up the oldest post ?

Went to Brum once. Not looking to repeat that. :unamused:

Anywhere inside the M25, traffic and driving standards get worse the closer you get to London

went ap’ north once to make a delivery :exclamation: :exclamation: , but was chased down 'saf to the north/south border by people weilding pitchforks and burning torches standing on the back of flat bed trucks :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

dam you limiter :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :imp: :imp: :imp:

Read a statement saying “roll on the opening of the M6 toll” and thought “WTF”! Then I looked at the date. Doh!

Worst for me has to be Reading, dunno why but my internal compass just doesn’t seem to work there. We had a regular customer there and I never went the same way twice getting to them. :imp: :imp:

I dreaded being handed the task of going to Icelands, namely Endfield and Swindon, but now that weve lost the bulk of that work we very very rearely ever go there, which to me is a good thing. The load itself was ok it was the hanging around that was the killer, they didnt want meat til the last thing of the day after all fresh produce. Apart from that send me anywhere with anything and I will do it, not one for moaning.

Smithfield meat market with 26 pallets of fresh chicken does it for me

‘…Where do you dread going?..’

It’s not so much the place - but definately the time, ie, anywhere on the road between 05.00 until the roads get really snarled for the morning.

It’s the time of when seemingly ‘important’ but very dozy charlies use the roads in their company chariots as their own and to hell to the rest of us as they go daft in their self-centred haste to sell their arses in an office. (It’s the time when plod could make a killing by picking vast number of these twonks up for umpteen offences - but who in Government cares about highway discipline anymore?)

Hence, I won’t start work at that time cos I’d sooner be damned rather than join them…

used to go to menzies glasgow don’t know why never could find the place, used to take me ages, no matter how many people i asked, just did’nt register…

Reckitt Benckiser- Hull :frowning:
Hate the place with a passion. The goods in and FLT drivers are the most ignorant set of tossers known to man.
Numerous times I have been 1/2 hour early for a timed delivery, only to be kept in a queue outside the gate, then finally allowed in to then sit in another holding area for another 2 hours.

It usually goes something like this:-
Get to the ‘goods in’ window to be told “you’re late” :open_mouth:
"No I’m not. I was here 1/2 before my book in time, but wasn’t allowed in "
"Well know you’ll have to wait to see when we can get to you "
“How long is that likely to be then”?
“Maybe an hour or so” :open_mouth:
“What !!! I’ve only got one pallet FFS”
“Just go back to your vehicle and wait driver” (without ever looking at me, as I’m invisible)
AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH !!!

God I’m getting wound up just thinking about the place. How the hell they are classed as a “blue chip” company beggars belief. I’ve seen many drivers almost drag the ‘goods in’ bloke through the window and I’ve seen them throw their papers at him because of his disgusting attitude.
I hate them :imp:

lidl in enfield … been here 7 hours and still not tipped… grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr will not be comming here again if i ever get out …

I’ll second that keano, we all meet some right ignorant gits in this job, but that broad in the “goods in” takes some beating!!

i hate going to london. it doesn’t matter which part you go to, it’s all too narrow and overcrowded, there’s too many restrictions and there’s nowhere to stop for a break! i would happily drive round brum all day, every day (and i have…).

RB is relatively large — what are the benefits and drawbacks for innovation? Do better resources compensate for being perhaps less flexible than smaller companies?
This is a key issue. Talented people don’t want to work in bureaucracies. They want to work in companies where can get things done. They want an environment where their ideas will be accepted. They want to be given real ownership for their business. This is why we focus so much on our culture. You have to act like a small company. This is why we are a ‘principle’ oriented company, not a process oriented one. Size can give you scale, but for innovation speed is more critical. This is why our culture is absolutely critical to our success.

What is key in creating a culture of innovation? Is it pay and processes or something more? Do reward structures encourage innovation — and if so, what works best?

At RB, it’s all about letting people have ownership of the idea and delivery and not putting too many decision layers in their way. It’s attitude, not process, that drives our innovation. You can’t remunerate for innovation in particular, but you can reward for overall success — in other words the outcome of great innovation. It’s just like entrepreneurs, who make their money by the success of the innovation in the market, not by the number of times they have a go at it. We are very much about pay for performance.

From an interview with the Economist Intelligence Unit, (end 2008)
