Where are all the old snow ploughs and gritters

has anyone noticed with all this bad weather that there does not seem to be any old gritting lorries or ploughs on the road I remember when snow was around you would see all kinds of old stuff like old aecs bedfords and the like all lorries which only turned a wheel once or twice a year all I see on the news or on the road are new or fairly new stuff I have been out of this industry for a good few years so maybe new regulations have put them of the road or councils with excess money to spend

When I took my truck into Derby for a tacho check, the dealers yard was littered with these, all brand new, about 30 of the buggers.

There’s a farm just back from the A629 at High Flatts near Penistone with about five or six ex-council Foden 6x4’s in the yard, and there’s another one working in the yard at Parkside Industrial estate at Darton, where the A637 crosses the M1 just south of junction 38.
