Where am I? (Solved by Chewy)

I’d like the location within UK and not just ‘a carpark’

Heston Services M4?

Yep, congrats, I was taking a 45 before heading back up north

Did you find anybody in there that speaks English  :frowning:

You had problems doing that 30 years ago.

Yep, in the shop, but she had a strong accent too.

But then again, lots of people think working in a store is ‘beneath them’ so don’t do it. It is only the migrant or foreign workforce that then do it. :unamused: :unamused:

Actually thats inaccurate. English people would love those jobs, its that the gaffers in their ivory towers set the wages so ■■■■ low that English people can’t afford to take the job and then whine ‘we can’t get English people to do the job’ and import a load of Poles and Turks for peanuts.

Yes, I can see your point.

But likewise I know of people locally that have walked away from or ignored jobs that are 6-7 pounds an hour because they class them as ‘too low’. Which is the same wage I am getting at the moment, even on Class 2 but I don’t have the required 2 years experience!

Local shops around here pay minimum wage too, long hours low pay and always on your feet.

They do right. It is too low. Say £7 an hour, 40 hours a week, thats £280. Less tax and NI, say takehome of £250.

I was earning more than that as a 22 year old continental driver in 1986.

However since then everything else has gone up dramatically, food, fuel, you name it. We can’t live 6 to a room and avoid VAT and income tax.
