After more years than I care to remember in road transport I cannot recall it being so quiet with less than a month to go before Christmas. This week has been dire, vehicles standing in the yard, not busy at all, and we work in different sectors of the industry including food. I dare not even think about what the New Year will bring. Is it just this company or are others in a similar situation?
I know somebody who imports container-loads of goods from the Far East, he normally does bulk imports in February because that’s the cheapest time of year to get it done, but he was being quoted the same price in November, normally the most expensive month, as he was being quoted last February.
i’ve been in and out of felixstowe and tilbury over the last couple of weeks.
seems extra quiet at the mo. got to 39 berth tuesday night/weds morning, and it was empty, the 3 straddles doing doughnuts on the berth was an indication not much was doing.
Parcel force are busy some sectors are ok – all of my fleet has worked everyday they could this month thats a first in two years
