Dont know but it has been unusually quiet since the turn of the year. The odd day it goes a bit crazy but nothing consistent. Things are not looking too good if it keeps up this way.
i`m busy atm.

Can,t see it will pick up and I am an optomist, things are just ticking over as it is I can only see it getting worse.
Just been stood down after a whole 4 days work at a large chilled business in Spalding, no freaking work, registered with my 9th agency of the year today to secure some work running out of Moy Park Anwick, they claim they are flat out but I have heard it all before now. No doubt get a weeks work and then have to register with another 40 agencies before the summer, fingers crossed, sliding further and further behind with the bills and it’s not for a lack of trying and making plenty of phone calls
Flat out

east anglia is ■■■■■■ mate, move out
There is plenty of work for lorries. Its the rates for 60% of the work that is crap. Can’t see it picking up for ten years at least.
pay cuts until june,so i assume our lot dont think things will pick up until then at least
It seems to me that everyone hears from their agencys that its flat out and then dont hear from them again… Is it only me that has not been told any bs from the agency and when they say its dead it is and when its flat out they r telling the truth… im on with 5 different ones and when one is dead they all are and vicea versa… Upfront and honest about it down here dunno how it is in the rest of the uk though
My firms busy. Buying a couple of new units and trailers soon.
Spent most of my 20 years trucking on agency. I’d be expecting work to be picking up in the next couple of weeks if you’re not one of the agency golden boys.
Seems to me agency drivers are the worst hit. Should the discussion be " are agency days over ?" .
You have to join one of the cheap Agencies who got anywhere the Mayority.
Problem is,that everyone will do so,the good Agencies run out of Drivers, and the cheap Agencies will have that many Driver that everyone just can do 3 Day/Week after Xmas, like 2 Year ago, just with less Money the Hour.
In Austria overtook the Union that Problem and put Agency Worker under Contract.
Reason was that Niki Lauda sold his “Fly niki” to air Berlin, and most Staff leased from Agency. Now they have to accept Union or Strike Action is offered

Where I work for part of the week had 66 of their own trucks and 6 hire units on the road pre-Christmas. Updating the Ops licence yesterday it now stands at 49 owned trucks - the balance have all been sold to raise revenue and no hired.
This is because they are now being particular about which work they take on and have dropped work that doesn’t pay a decent rate. Obviously that doesn’t help those that might not have a job anymore but … that’s business. This particular company had been operating some contracts at a loss for to long. It was actually quite a brave decision to turn work away.
personally I don’t see it getting better for quite a while
we have the end of the tax year, and the budget. once these are out of the way, things will be better.
but as long as you have people running lorries, and letting the customer set the price, then you will find it hard to get decent rates.
Agency golden boys will always be busy, which always makes me laugh as they give their reason for being on agency that they like the flexibility, even though they are always available 24/7 for 365 days a year. They would have more flexibility by being employed by the company’s they are working for, at least they’d get holidays (one ‘golden boy’ at my main agency is very proud of the fact that he hasn’t had a break in over 2 years…).
You can always tell when things start to pick up around here by looking at the job ads in the paper, there’s been no more than one or two a week since Christmas, but today there are actually six, so I’d say things are getting a bit busier.

Well our firm are trying to cut back on agency and we have just taken on 10 drivers to cut the the agency bill
