Right passed my C the other week, and I used to be a transport clerk but that was a while ago now and the regs have probably changed.
I work nights in my “day job” 2200-0600hrs Sun, Mon, Tue, Thur and Fri I was hoping to do driving on my RDO but I know I need to have 45hrs weekly rest. Can the weekly rest be in 2 parts ie I finish at 0600 on weds start back at 2200 on Thurs so I have had 36hrs off can I drive on the Saturday night and then take my 45 hrs + the 9 hrs owed the following week over the Weds (being 36hrs) and the Sat (being 36hrs) off.
don’t tell vosa you have another job, just tell them you work part time as a lorry driver due to being an orthodox lazy git.
much better than worrying about regulations.

I know what your saying its a lot easier to do that but I wanted to get experience without running bent also I could get away with it because I am new to the job so wouldn’t be getting much agy work anyway if it was my full time job
looking at the example you’ve said. it looks legal to me.
as long as you don’t do more than one driving shift that week, you should be ok.
but i still wouldn’t say [zb] all though.

Ok so we think week A I can drive 1 shift
Week B nothing (REST)
back to week A drive 1 shift
Week B Rest
But keep it zipped if I get pulled.
BTW Part time drivers do they fill out a Tacho for when they are doing other work? I know when I was a clerk some people did other jobs and drove on the side and they NEVER gave me a manual chart for when they were doing their day job, just said they hadn’t driven since x y z
you could do 1 driving shift every week, you’ll have enough rest (just).
as driving isn’t your main activity, you shouldn’t need to keep records of other work.
however, if you want to be squeaky clean, then buy a diary. the law states “written records”.
vosa have accepted my diary of excuses on many occasions.
i went through a spate of being pulled so much, that i thought they wanted me to join up.
Is it legal to take your 45hrs weekly rest in two separate day’s? Such as Mon Wed Thur Fri sun as work and Tue and sat as rd?

No. A full weekly rest needs to be 45 consecutive hours.
You can take a 24hr rest in alternate weeks though, but you need a full 45hr in the other weeks. (And you need to compensate for the reduced weekly rest too)

So what we are saying is the only way for me to do any driving is 1 drive for my current employer on my normal working week or drive bent for the agency on one of my days off.
Looks like I will be waiting til I leave my current employer next August before I do any driving then as I’m not risking getting fined or losing my licence (it took me enough money and time to get it).
