If you refuse to drive it in the wind youre sacked. If you do drive it in the wind, and she goes over its your fault as its the drivers responsibility, and youre sacked.
Drive slowly to the minimise the risk of going over, get their late and just get a verbal/written warning for pish taking.
Last Xmas eve I got sent down to Cantabery, It was the worst Night of driving I’ve had. It took me nearly 5 hours a2 shut, The old bill diverting everyone down the A28. Every half mile tree down I had a phone line come down resting on the side of the trailer. I pulled two cars out of road lakes, and eventually arrived to deliver 2 green produce trays of veg.
gadge:
run in the bad winds many a time with curtains pulled back and back doors open never had a problem , always put 3 ratchet straps over the roof , just told the gaffer that it wld cost a lot less for a roof than getting recovered and a possible badly injuired driver or worse , driver got killed when his artic got blown over a mile from our yard in the last bad weather
Spot on, obviously there’s a risk to other road users with the roof blowing off but there’s a bigger one with the truck blowing over. In all honesty putting a roof back on a curtainsider is really not a massively difficult or expensive job, done it plenty of times - but usually caused by trees or bridges and not wind.
