When do my points expire?

This may sound a little :unamused: to some but:

Do points on my licence expire on the 3rd anniversary of the offence or the conviction?

3 Years from conviction they are spent, but they still appear on the license for 4 years. :wink:

Hi Blue222, It depends what the points code is. :grimacing:

Most points will ‘active’ on the licence for three years, but they will remain on the licence for one more year ‘inactive.’

:open_mouth: Points for the more serious offences will remain ‘active’ for ten years and ‘inactive’ for one more year.

At the end of the period of ‘inactivity’ you can apply to have the points removed, but I believe there’s a fee for that. :frowning:

Unless you change address and live with a relative and they are removed automatically if they have expired (4 years) Then of course you change your address back to the correct one when you return home again :wink:

Thanks for the replies.

I just wanted to know if I’ll be point free in March, three years after I did the four murders, or if I’ll need to wait until October (three years after I got sent down)?

SP10 = Exceeding goods vehicle speed limits
Dam man if you keep that up you wont have your license very long.

Sorry, I need to clarify,

The first 3 points were an endorsement, and the other three were heard in court (therefore convictions i guess).

All offences in March '06, endorsement for the first one soon thereafter, the other three were pled guilty in court in october '06.

The nice magistrates in Leamington Spa let me keep my licence.

As long as it sp 10 then its 3 years for totting up and four for insurance purposes from date of offence.

Well if you get another sp 10 it would be in your best interests not to get convicted in the next 7 or 8 months.

So a not guilty and a non appearance at court due to ilness of course should see your points expired before your convicted.
