Anyone else fuming at the Wheel Nut story on Radio 2?
I contacted them and told them if that was one of us we’d get an investigation into driver negligence etc and it’s entirely up to the driver to make sure the wheels are secure, safe etc on his vehicle, especially if they’re about to drive 400 miles there and back!
An MP who was doing a 400 mile round trip and when he got there he discovered his car wheels were being held on with nothing but the locking nuts. He said his handling was severely compromised and there was a lot of vibratiosn etc.

When I saw this thread title I thought Wheel Nut had been on the radio
Ditto. Thought maybe he’d been on about juggernaut drivers trangressing the weight limit on his street in nimbyville destroying shop fronts and disturbing his nap Lol.

Not quite, but we have had this little incident today.

To be fair though, how many of us would remove the hubcaps every time we used the car to check the nuts?!
Blimey! It must be grim in deepest darkest Wales! Thought everyone had alloy wheels in 2012! Hubcaps are for old granddads!
My car has factory fit alloys with a cap over the nuts in the middle and no, I don’t take the caps off to check the nuts every morning before I go to work.
