about 2 1/2 miles taking a cheeky short cut down a tight lane and came across fire engines and police dealing with a house fire. nowhere to turn at all and took over an hour

About two kms. Arrived to the fish farm on Hebrides only to find, that the gate is locked (very unusual thing over there).
But it was easy in the rigid, even though there were bends. I had to correct myself only once, but on the part of the road there was no tarmac, and my mudflap get caught under the wheel, so I drove over my mudflap and wheelarch

The question is, would you have stopped for a 45 if you had ran out of time half way back?
Had a load of tar one day to a farm up in the Berwyns, me and two other 4x2 tippers. Got to the end of a lane, the lads had helpfully left a sign, so we turned down there. Must have been over 2kms and so narrow in places the outer rear tyres we’re over the edge of the road.
Got down the yard and there was literally nowhere to turn around. Old machinery everywhere and the whole yard right up against a rock face one side and a stream the other. I tried turning and nearly went for a dip!
Nothing for it, reverse back to the main road and then reverse all the way back again. It was over 2kms one way but I’ll have it as a 4km reverse cos’ I’m sad like that.
Only about 1/2 mile for me,was delivering to a water treatment plant in Cornwall and made the mistake of asking a local, just take the next right and its about 3 miles down that lane, watch it though its a bit narrow. Not bloody kidding was she, unfortunately she forgot to tell me the place was just the other side of a 12ft something bloody bridge!

I THOUGHT FISH FARMS WERE AT SEA■■?
Yeah,
Outer Hebrides are also on sea
But off course delivery was to the place when they have office, some toolsheds and a pier for the boats

MisterStrood:
At least it’s straight. Imagine doing it with twisty bends
Add a blind corner and a hill or two, couple of farm gates… one of our reps sold some feed to a farmer, rep didn’t bother to tell our transport department that he wanted it delivered to his “other” farm which was easily accessible by lorry. Rang the farmer, told him I was on me way, he assumed I was going to the “other” farm so didn’t query it… so I ended up doing the above ( to the invoice address of course) guided by a very annoyed farmer’s wife who saw all her nice spring bulbs disappear under a Volvo’s rear wheels!
To answer the OP’s question, that lane was over a mile long.
We had telematics fitted to our vehicles so they can monitor routes, speed, what gear etc etc. I got called up to explain why i had reversed for 17 miles at an average of 32mph
Don’t ask where my head was, but I totally forgot about the low bridge. Worse thing was, I had come off the M42 to avoid a hold up, so of course this road was choca block.
At least I was travelling in the right direction for the correct side of the road

No need to… the clock goes backwards on a ‘Digi’ if you drive for that long in reverse

So I have a great invention: wagon towing another wagon backwards instead of trailer. After 4,5 hours, you just go to other cab, make u-turn, and continue driving
