I used to ride round on my bmx singing that bj and the bear song ,looking forward to my dad bringing his lorry home for the weekend …cant imagine doing that nowadys ,some knob would winge about it being parked on the street
Used to wait for my dad too. Bedford TK four-wheeler, really long thing with a sloped rear, for caravans. Our village was no more than a hamlet, on the coast in mid-wales. He used to park away from all the houses, up a little lane on a bend with a built-in layby. He used to leave at about 04:00 mostly and didn’t want to wake everyone up as he used to warm her up before he started and sat there doing his log-book with his foot on the throttle - no cc in those days! Besides the thing would shake like a shaky thing in a shaking competition if left to idle when cold… Us kids would run to meet him wondering if he had a sandwich left we could scrounge!
