What's this then?

Noticed this today fitted to all the wheels on a Spanish unit…what is it ?

tyre pressure monitor and auto inflater

It looks like ctis central tyre inflation system used to inflate and deflate tyres good when it works

I suspected it might be something like that…how come they’re not fitted to more trucks ■■..seems like a good idea

So do they just pump abit of air in the tyres when they run over weight so they dont touch in the middle? :unamused:

It is good but at a price it should be fitted to tippers would help when it gets muddy

There’s a lot of them on the trucks that do the logs and use the forestry roads but they reduce the pressure to limit the damage then once back on the blacktop it pumps them up again.

Yep, usually used to lower the tyre pressure for offroad use. Softer tyre means more surface area, better flotation and less road damage.

I doubt it’s to over-pressure the tyres for running overloaded, that’ll end in disaster!

Nearly all Eastern Bloc military vehicles had this feature years ago!

as said above, loads of round timber motors up (scotland) have them fitted. see them more and more on cement mixers too

You can bet Germany will bring a law requiring trucks to have these. Be handy in snow, especially with auto trucks (that’s if they let you let the air down to your specific requirement when your empty)

Been fitted on logging trucks in NZ for years. Eddie.
