Whats the worst truck you have driven

I think the worst truck I ever drove was a Sudden Accident 301, it wasnt very old but it was certainly a piece of crap to drive. I had it for about 2 months doing Hull-Dumfries-Hull every day, this was replaced by a 1625 More Crap

A toss up between these 3, a T reg 2300 Daf, 12 spd back to front crash box, evil thing, miss one gear & you had to stop & start again or a Bedford KM with a 27ft flat, wouldn’t pull a greasy stick out of a dogs arse & it had no steering lock at all, like trying to turn an oil tanker, the brakes weren’t much better either or an S reg 1632 merc, the worlds coldest lorry, did one trip to Italy in the winter & ended up driving in a sleeping bag! In fact until I got a 142 everything I drove needed scrapping

Axor. nuff said.

biggest pile of crap i drove was a w reg seddon atkinson with the eaton twin split ashame it was hammered to death it could have been half decent i think.

Mean And Nasty 18 tonner day cab with the czech cab that had the curved windscreen. Horrible motors those. There’s been a list of sheds as long as your arm, the gutless daf 85 unit spar gave me on agency, the old foden mixer wagon I had for a while, several merc 7.5 tonners…

They don’t pay enough on agency to have me play that [zb]ing game any more.

scamell handy man 2 this one had modified wipers air operated and a nine inch gearstick but after that i got a volvo f 88 both trucks belonged to helmsleys boot hill huddersfield

1619 merc with 20 tonnes of rock salt on trailer,
I rather liked the DAF 2100,even with the silly back to front splitter box.

:open_mouth:          Now crying with laughter.

An old Volvo FH12 on an S plate, the cab mounts were away and the boss didn’t tell me. He came out with me on my first day as i’d been off tipping for a while and the previous driver had torn the back door of the tipper.

Anyway, i jumped in this thing at 5.00am on a Saturday morning and when we got going, i couldn’t hold a straight line down the dual carriageway.

He then proceeded to tell me we had around 33 tonne of grain in the box then said “i didn’t realise these cab mounts were so bad but can feel it now i’m not driving it now”. I was unsure if the cab was going to stay on the chassis they were that bad.

Needless to say i refused to drive it again until he got the mounts fixed.

Ah, the DAF sliding dog gear box !! That sorted the men out from the boys.

Bedford RL , thats when i found out how to get in the thing , But ANY ERF was the pits , horrible things all of them .

I was re-aquainted with the delights of the turning circle of the MAN 18 tonner whilst driving for DHL last week. Why is it so bad on these trucks compared to an Iveco, Daf or Merc?

harry:

One like this but an artic.

A funny looking Guy artic ; it had a back to front gearbox & I got stuck with half a load of apples on a steep hill single track in the middle of nowhere…?

The one with a Bl~zb~dy great long tiddy wumpus gearstick that seemed to just go round and round and not find a gear by chance

My worst had to be Sed Ak J6 :imp:

MAN TGA - biggest load of crap on the planet (Scania second place).

i dont agree with you, i think it should be the other way round, at least in a MAN you get a bit more leg room than in a scania

Probably an Iveco or ERF :smiling_imp:

Was never impressed by a renault premium, had an actros on demo, weren’t keen on driving it but comfort was spot on. As for twin splitters? Bring em back! Just to hear someone crying over the CB about how they can’t keep it going, oh happy days

when i was in the army i took the route of class 3 class 2 then class 1 my class 2 test was in a AEC 6 wheeler. no power steering an a crash gear box. needed arms like garth to get around the cones lol

i learned to drive in similar type trucks…aecs with no power steering and a big j4 guy to name but a few all with crash boxes
these are the trucks that would seperate the men from the boys.
fair enough if you are younger and never had the misfortune to drive these types of truck.
i notice a lot of the posts complaining about trucks like mans and scanias and other modern trucks.
these and i have driven them all,are a pleasure to drive and now with automatic gearboxes, better again.
i would drive any of them without argument before i would go back to what we had to put up with 20 and 30 years ago
i cant understand why drivers would complain about them.
i think the new drivers are a little spoiled.

been drivin 15 yrs, work with blokes wi 35 yrs under their belt, the general opiunion is,until youve driven a merc axor, you dont know what a ■■■■ poor wagon is!driver comfort was put way below the styling of the cupholder! :imp:

This thing!

On a 57 plate yet managed to drive like it was about thirty years old, nasty pile of crap!

It was worth driving because I was getting paid the same rate as a lot of the local firms pay for driving an artic.
