We load bulk waste in Mitcham. Covers the motors in absolute ■■■■
Dont do pk anymore but do the odd load of wheatfeed which as you will know is a ■■■■■■■■■■■ matter how little you open your door to squeeze in it still coats everything.
On tippers I often had pk, fish meal and cocoa powder. All ■■■■.

I used to be able to squeeeze through the small gaps…not anymore
Wheatfeed is another un-enjoyable one for sure!!
Got smothered in a cloud of PK earlier. Fair to say I wasn’t smiling afterwards!
Sheep skins from an abbatoir, loaded on a on a flat trailer which you then have to climb on to rope and sheet. you at the end stink, are bitten to hell and covered in blood, gore and excrement used to load these regular out of Flint
They used to go to a factory in Yarm then back to the yard to steam clean the trailer and sheets, and the driver
absolute nightmare of a job
Sod that i would never do that load them in a bulker!Never done fish meal thankfully but been with me dad when he used to.I stll think bulk is the best job you can keep curtainsiders

Defo the best job!! Beats multi drop and struggling with curtains any day…
Carrying compost after carrying clay or wet muck…
Loading agg lime when raining.
20 lt tubs of chicken fat (multidrop). never smelt anything like it.
used to get tesco’s to freeze it first, but they never did. if a tub went over in the back of the truck, i would be retching trying to tip it at the yard. nasty!
Redd zlagg, a crushed to powder african red lime stone ish stuff. Did it in 4 loop, open big bags, really fine dust that gets everywhere, even manages to create a dust cloud behind a curtainsider
Office removals with Giltspur Bullens mid 80s. Common job was 2 or 3 office levels packed into crates and labelled.
Larger stuff dismantled to fit into lift or else carry down stairwell. Then tail-lift everything and pack as tight as possible.
Unloading at other end was usually upstairs with lifts commonly out of order for repair or maintenance, as we usually worked nightshifts on these types of jobs.
We also worked mainly at the weekends in the city centres, so you can add in the drunken ■■■■■■■■■ confrontation to the job description as well.
One plus point was that you could eat like a horse and stay built like the whip…
My vote would be Biscuitmeal. Not as dusty as PK or Gluten but still stinks and sticks in the trailer when its warm.
Also +1 to the bulker over tautliner arguement, give me a tipper anyday my arms ache like buggery when i do curtainsider work. You dont have to worry about the scum slashing the sides either
Worst place i tip is our yard, it’s reasonable at best when it’s dry (dusty) but any small amount of rain turns the yard into a slimy mess. I get more dirt over my overalls in our yard than out on site.
The concrete in the yard is uneven, cracked and broken. Our yard is an odd shape with the only space to put the wagons right by the gate, the machines are unloaded and tracked down the yard dropping mud and crap everywhere. The concrete is cracked and broken and therefore impossible to sweep, and further machine or light vehicle movements grind the mud into sludge if its wet or dust if it is dry.
Forkie pulled pallet off, missed and then dropped it partly when pulling back. He tried to grab it by pushing against the dangling edge of the pallet and put the forks through the rear wheel top.

+2!
And I’d forgotten all about biscuitmeal, we used to do it quite a bit out of Brackley Drier mainly. I didn’t mind the smell, in fact i seem to remember it being quite nice, but like full-fat soya it just clung together and didn’t want to budge, even when tailboarding on a pit. I didn’t mind the 1 hour tips if you could open her up and get your head down for 45, but with biscuitmeal you soon learn that if you get your head down for 45 the weigher will probably read the same when you wake up!
Also linseed on a wet floor can stick worse than sh*t to a blanket, and clinker (predictably being "cement powdery ") even moreso!
We also did a lot of sugar beet pellets, some before “Supaflow”, and if you had them on overnight you knew you were going to have fun in the morning! Especially in a 2½ ram shed! …in Bangor-on-Dee. …not that it’s scarred me in any way
Going to fill up with diesel in a road sweeper and pressing the wrong button and tipping 4 ton of filthy brown sludge all over the busy garage forecourt
