I used to take car parts to Daewoo in Elk, Poland and the shortest wait was 5 days. 3 weeks was the norm, the boss was happy as we got more in Demurrage than we would get driving. The good thing was the Customs were on the Factory and would tell you to report each morning at 10 O’clock and let you know if you would be cleared that day or not, so you didn’t have to hang around waiting all day.
The reason behind the wait was because Daewoo wouldn’t pay the duty on the load until they needed what ever you had on board.

9 days at Albasserdam for kit we tipped then had to wait to reload
6 days Derby, Crane winded off
6 days at Derrylin , wait my turn under the Strand Jacks
6 Days back of Trafalgar Square (Crane broke down)
3 days At Highbury Stadium, just cos they were slow
3 days Avonmouth Power station waiting for Strand jacks again
3 days Stallingborough- wait turn to tip…
Too many 2 day and 24 hour waits to list in all
but a selection…
2 day at Ingolstadt - rejected load
2 day Heilbron- rejected load
2 day Felixstowe, site closed after accident
2 day Pescara… wait for a full load of empty beer barrels…as they didnt have enough in for a full load
1 day Rome- ater they refused load as not ordered… despite it being a trunk load from Schipol

Used to regularly spend a few days waiting to clear customs in Greece when some 'idiot" :sunglasses: lost part of the customs paperwork, if it happened on Friday & you had ‘trouble’ reaching the office before 5pm they couldn’t even start the ball rolling until 9am Monday, then it would take a few days to sort out, sweet :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

I sat in Felixstowe for 27 hours a few weeks ago when it was shut due to windy weather in the middle of July!

3 weeks Zona Franca - customs on strike . Saw OD’s going bust all around me .

Blimey… looking at all that above… and i moan about a few hours in an RDC

I was on the beach everyday & downtown Barcelona every night when it was a wild town .I was also on a Swiss salary plus exes for taxi’s etc. I had a ball! The firm I was on were flying the Swiss drivers home & back every weekend & that was before cheap fares .

Recently I waited all day on the ramp at Asda ,Crick & it sent me up the wall so I think UK drivers have a right to moan about the miserable conditions they have to endure - RDC’s are prisons , its a wonder you don’t have to hand yer bootlaces in !
My sympathies to you Alan.

3 days at Kettering ice rink tipping a tanker load of Thermocal (a kind of antifreeze). This stuff fills the 3mm diameter pipes that go under the ice (kind of like an electric blanket in reverse). It was a gravity unload! Found local Wetherspoons and spent more than I earned.

Oddbins wimbledon.
Arrived 14hrs late on a saturday morn at 7.00am,re booked for 9.00pm monday night got tipped 11.00pm.

That must have been a good few years back we haven’t had an ice rink for ages.
