Maybe you’ve got to work for a firm who works in the food sector…Actrosman is on for 3663,The Big Un is on for a grain merchant and i’m on for a major chicken processor…all food based, all paying above average rates??

And in fairness all the trucks are quite new too mine is a 2008 may due for renewal the end of this year and is in private plates Washy Jnrs is quiet new not sure about Actrosman but being food based all are very image conscious at the end of the day everyone needs to eat

Having read a lot of the replies on here I think im gonna stay where i am :open_mouth:

If the hourly rate was poor i wouldnt bother, but it isnt so …

we need more info, what do you earn p.w, how many hours are you doing, whats your yearly pay.
if you get 585 p.w[15x 37] then thats easily obtainable, i earn between 6-700 p.w,thats 5 days, and our wages are according to most crap,so most must be earning more than me so id tale the redundancy, bank it[or whatever],get another job, earn as much, but be prepared to do a sight more hours than you do now

I currently do nights my basic yearly pay is £30,054.00. my hours are 8pm till 4am. mon-fri. plus overtime. i run to and from rdc’s.
i dont get paid for my break. so the hours are 36:15. 6 wks holiday and sick pay
I’ve not seen anything earning the wage your earning. if i did then yes i would go.
The most i’ve seen is £10:40 per hour.

see thats why i said id be more impressed if you were paid 50/55 hrs, even though your on a site more than me p.h, at the end of the year your actually earning less[assuming my hours dont change],where you gain is in the fact your only doing 8 hrs per night plus a bit of o/t, wheras im doing days, but more like 13/14/15 hrs per day.
i think you could find plenty of jobs you would earn your 30 k per year, but be prepared to nigh on double the hours you do now.
my previous job was £450 p.w , i used to do 5.30- 11.30,6 hrs,5 nightsor £15.00 p.h,but even though it was £15.00 p.h i could only earn £450 p.w,my hourly rate now is a load less than £15 p.h now but by doing loads of hours im earning 6/700 p.w instead of £450 p.w.
as i say youll earn at the end of the year what you earn now, but you wont be home much

I see what you mean Ady.
Being away from home living in truck does’nt bother me, But it affects your family life. If i was a single bloke i would have gone for the VDB job and give it a go.
Thats why i think im better staying where I am no point in doing more hours for a little bit extra or even the same money.
Thanx for the info

Indeed i am on for3663 but we are one of 2 NDC’s and obviously different to the multi temp set-ups but the difference in wages between the 2 is unreal…we have guys who come in for the agency now and again asking if there are any vacancies (which there isn’t as yet) but our Oldham depot (allegedly) pay half that and have longer working weeks. The tackle aint much cop, we seem to be the depot that gets the relics but if it was a toss-up between shiny motor/low wage or vice versa, its gotta be the folding stuff! If you have both then fair play. Incidentally, mine keeps cutting out due to a sticking exhaust brake (FTA man say so). I took him out for a spin last week to show him the effects of the cutting out and Sod’s law was prevalant, it didn’t die on me but revs went down to 100 so i went back and picked up a trailer with 24 pallets of water on for added weight…that did the trick and put the fear of Christ up him as we were coming off the A329 M into Winnersh…he asked me if it scared me when it happened, i said it did the first time but we got used to it and now see it as an ‘inconvenience’ One thing i did get to see in the ‘day light’ was the huge plume of smoke that bellows out…i was getting ready to bail out…thought she was on fire :open_mouth:
