whats next ?

Easter.
Got my caravan out of storage and washed etc. Loaded up with everything (including sink) so that I can go down the motorways at a sensible speed on Friday.
Really looking forward to seeing all you nice truckers, always get a toot on the horn and a wave from you !
No, I don’t sell coffee and burgers from my caravan even though some of you seem to ask if I have any coffee beans as you go past.
Some of you are even kind enough to move into the middle lane and get alongside me and stay there, so that the sun doesn’t get too hot on the side of my face, or are so entranced by looking into the windows of my caravan that you try to stay at the side of me when I am passing you.
I especially like the truckers who, when going up hill and catching up with slow moving traffic, slam on the brakes instead of pulling out so as not to impede my progress (although I am surprised that you wait untill you are right up the tail end of the truck in front)
And many thanks in advance to the trucker who will flash his lights and go from side to side in my mirrors to tell me its “not that junction” when I slow right down to have a look at the junction numbers as I come up to the exit.
This year I have even acquired one of those natty reflective vests, so that when I park in the truck park I don’t feel too out of place, its so kind of some of you to park in the coach park so that I can have room to park without having to reverse etc.
Its great to know that you accept me as a “knight of the road” and welcome me to the “inside lane club” when I am driving my truck 'n trailer, just the same as you guys.

See you all Friday

Made me chuckle that …

hey del, thats a good one. i know what its like as i used to have a van.
i treat all caravanners like truckers. give them room.
enjoy your weekend.

I really enjoy seeing caravans parked at the MSA in truck bays, as the people in them tend to pull up, put the ickle steps outside and go indoors and indulge in coffee & sandwiches.
Now if you happen to see 1 such caravan parked in such a manner, as a trucker your duty bound to pull up along side it as close as possible, thus making it almost impossible for them to open the caravan door and exit, and if they protest you should then pull the curtains and inform them that you’ve started an 11hr break and you are unable you move your truck. They will then scratch their heads and finally figure out that 1 of them will have to scramble out the front window and move the car/caravan.
You could also ensure you top off the torture by taking a pee on you tyre directly next to the caravan window where they are sat eating/drinking

I have found that the caravan people like us to leave our engines running during a break, they understand that we need the air conditioning :stuck_out_tongue:

And that the bread you are not eating HAS to be thrown on the roof of their caravan for health and safety reasons.

it’s really amusing while on your break watchin someone try and reverse a caravan at petrol pumps! Lol

And when they park up and, they leave a blue bottle outside with a pipe going into it. I’m assuming that for the toilet? Very handy if your desperate for a ■■■■ and very thoughtfull of them to give truck driver’s somewhere to go. Lol.

good one del “up the caravan club” yep i to have had those same drivers giving me the very same coffee signals   the ones who constantly wear hi-vis jackets,in the cab :exclamation: i suppose thats so you can make them out giving the hand signals  what i like the best, is when you catch up with those old freinds of the road :sunglasses: in the service’s trying to park their waggons  BLIND SIDE  no then they go on a sight seeing tour around the car park looking for the SRAIGHT LINE approach  laugh a pi - wee my self all the time. happy caravaning    ( i bet there loads of drivers taking of hi-vis jackets)

where can we expect to see you at del, in the TRUCK PARKING AREA of the services

I certainly will be parked up in the truck park, but as i can only manage one MSA at a time, I have arranged for some of my friends to avail themselves of your hospitalityin , especially South on the M5.
They may also form a “convoy”, as we are aware that you appreciate this kind of thing, even to the extent of singing songs about them.
I would like to apologise to the truckers I forgot earlier, the ones who keep us warm on a night by keeping their engines running and their warm exhaust under the caravan. I hadn’t noticed that you did this until one night my ear plugs came out. Doesn’t the noise bother you or do you use ear plugs also?
Also to the drivers feeding the birds on top of my caravan, I now have some really great close up pics of the crows etc that come to eat it. How on earth did you guess that my hobby is ornithology?
And a special thanks to the driver who stopped me oversleeping by blowing his horns as he pulled away after his break, most considerate of him. I hate to oversleep and be late. He also parked really close so that the wind didn’t rock the caravan whilst I was sleeping. Splendid chap!
Mind you, I was glad that I have an on board loo as he WAS a BIT too close.

As for the ones who pi33 in my water container, I make a few bob selling it to other drivers as cheap ad-blue, so that offsets the cost of my fuel.
You really are a most generous, helpful and friendly bunch of workmen.
I can’t be on my own for thinking this as I notice those chappies from VOSA like you to stop and have a chat with them a lot more often nowadays, it must be good feeling to be so poular!
I had been wondering if I could do something in return for you, perhaps I could give your bosses a ring and ask them to take it a bit easier on you so that you don’t have to drive so fast so often, or rush around so much
.Perhaps if I got the phone number off your cabs I could ring and tell your boss how helpful you are to other road users, he may even give you a pay raise as a reward.

First one was funny Del, now you’re trying too hard…

Please say this doesn’t happen?
