whats it for?

Was drivng a Renault midliner 7.5 t today and noticed a button down at the base of the drivers seat, its designed to be operated by your heel I reckon, doesn’t seem to do anything when your driving, when idling it almosts stalls the lorry.
Anyone any ideas? Thanks

No idea about the near-stalling, but I have driven something in the past - possibly a Renault - that had a floor-mounted button to adjust the steering column.

Probably an exhaust brake?

I thought that too Harry and tried it on a steep hill but didn’t seem to do anything.

After reading this im sure its an exhaust brake as harry says

It’s an exhauster that doesn’t work properly

Isn’t it a butterfly valve in the exhaust (hence stalling when idle) On the floor at base of steering wheel is common on older renaults.

it’ll almost stall it when idling mick, must get it checked on next service.
Brakes in general on this lorry are far from good but passed the test ok

It’s piece of French crap?
They’re good at life and looking after the land but hopeless at mechanicals…
Love the French but hate their motors.

Definately an exhaust brake then.
