10,000t x $180-190 per tonne = $1,800,000-1,900,000.
$36m who’s scamming who ?.
It’s obvious that the stuff costs more than its worth to import.

Some say the great train robbers only actually nicked £260k not 2.6m.

The article says 10,000 ton was ordered, but $36m was paid for first part of shipment.
The link you post says $190 per ton to convert blister to metal. Copper is approx $9,000 per ton.

No the link I posted definitely says $160-$170 per tonne to refine it.
It definitely says batches of blister copper were offered to the market by Congo for $180-$190 per tonne.
We are talking about 10,000t in total of blister copper that’s gone missing right ?.
Remind me how the $36m figure is arrived at.

Yes, the link you gave does say $160 ish to refine blister.
It does say that in small batches were offered by Congo under $200.
That is an April 2019 article.
Current copper price is $9,000
markets.businessinsider.com/com … pper-price
I’m probably misunderstanding something here.
How does it cost under $200 to buy a ton of blister, under $200 to refine it, yet the value of finished copper is $9,000?
What have I got wrong?

None of it makes any sense.Where does the $36m figure come from.
Anyway I might be able to get my hands on 10,000t of blister copper going cheap at $25m and I’ll throw in a free bridge. But you’ll have to be quick.
Seriously the figures would work at $1,800 per tonne for blister copper + $1,800 per tonne to refine it if they’ve left a nought off the figures.
That would explain around $36m for 10,000t of finished/refined’ copper.Bearing in mind a price of around $5,000 per tonne only last year.
Oh wait it’s only the copper blister that went missing.Maybe it’s that well known Ying Tong firm behind the scam trying to copy the Richardsons. No class.
