Fear not - I will save Stobart from financial disaster. I am an icon. I am a hero. I am a TV star.
The tv program did not do them any favours. It should of been more about the life in the haulage and not "look at what we have! " and brag brag brag!!
“With 7years under his belt he tackles the dreaded reverse blindside!!!”
Whoopy doo!!!
Jesus my old man has 30 odd years experience he would be a superstar!!

Heard today all stobart biomass drivers are on 30 days notice. They’re being transferred to jenkinsons next monthThat’s weird as Eddie bought Jenks share of the Biomass business a while back.
Totally untrue. You’ll see who owns the lions share on the 1st of April.

Jenks website is stil going strong showing their fleet.
Suprised at that if Stobies own it all
Or have Stobbies paid a combined £112 million (cash & shares) to Irlam’s and Jenk’s for them both to keep going?

Right listen carefully. Aw Jenkinsons is a company. Stobart is a company. Stobart biomass is a company. They might be similar, but they aren’t the same thing.
Jenkinson apparently has pulled the biomass away from the general side of Stobarts, because…and this is just hearsay…because the biomass was subsidising the sinking ship that is general haulage/stobart chilled.
Stobart doesn’t/hasn’t/isn’t going to take over Jenkinsons. And vice versa.
Oh yes and I haven’t been given my 30 days notice for change of contract.

Reading the Telegraph article - carefully - you seem to have it arse about face… isn’t it saying Stobart are buying the Biomass side of AWJ and that it’s going to cost them a few quid to buy Mr Jenkinson out of the 50% stake he currently owns? Or, is it me whos missing something??
I 'm no financial expert, but any way you look at it that top graph does not look good.

Incidentally this link telegraph.co.uk/finance/news … 52.7m.html is dated 4th May 2011 … and as we all know financial well being changes rapidly in transport.
I stress this is just office/drivers talk. But by the sound of it, Jenkinson realised that stobart biomass was subsidising other enterprises such as stobart chilled.
Remember aw Jenkinsons is a totally different company to stobart biomass.
So now he wants to separate biomass from the stobart group, and forms a new company “stobart biomass holdings”. Therefore all profits are kept in the new company and not used in the stobart group.
Or maybe our office has got it wrong as well!

Hmm, we’re that the case, wouldn’t he be paying them money then?
Seems to me that Stobart are buying him out (which explains why they can’t afford a driver pay rise this year!!) , time will tell no doubt…
Office staff get something wrong? In transport? Never!!!
Cheers mate.
Not had a pay rise here at stobrats since 2007 as there’s no MONEY IN THE POT!

I’d normally agree with you,but they managed to give all our lads who were made redundant a lump sum/bonus on top of there redundancy so there must be spare money somewhere
They put all the redundancy money that was due to be paid to the lads who left before they got there redundancy into a pot and shared it out between the ones who stayed to the end
It wasn’t a huge amount of money, but still a tidy sum,and one you really wouldn’t of expected to be paid out,I’d of thought company would of kept it for themselves,.
I’d be interested to know who sanctioned that extra payment but I guess we will never know

liveried up in what though?
Oh what a difference a week makes in pulling trailers and strokes.
But Stobart was kicked out of the FTSE 250 last month, after its share price lost more than a quarter of its value in 12 months, and today the haulier said: “The role of executive chairman is no longer appropriate and Avril Palmer-Baunack will stand down with immediate effect.”
The senior independent director, Alan Kelsey, will also depart by May, while Baker-Bates, who had announced his retirement, will stay on until a new chairman is appointed.
Separately, the company has signed a three-year distribution deal with Tesco, and said its full-year results would be “moderately” ahead of expectations.
