I’m an agency driver & I’ve previously looked upon the ‘Christmas rush’ to tied me over 'til March/April when the summer jobs come along. Normally all of the agencies are crying out for drivers but this year it’s hit the doldrums & I’ve only done 3 shifts in the last 7 days. I can’t figure out if it’s a hidden recession or an influx of EU ‘partners’. How are things over the rest of the agency world?
Quiet apparently although I haven’t done too bad worked 4 days last week including Sunday and worked all 3 days this week so far. I think it helps that I don’t knock them back, provided that I’ve had the correct rest period I will get up and go at the drop of a hat and don’t care if it’s class 1 or a transit van if it’s work I’ll do it.
I have a theory on this subject.
It occurs to me that every year the shops bemoan that this year wasn’t as good as the previous xmas.
For years the big chains used to have a bumper end to the year by selling more stock at the end of November & December.
Now they as start selling xmas goods in September it means they are still selling the same amount of goods only it’s now spad over 4 months instead of 6 weeks so no rush
all the shopping been done via clicks and not bricks
the rush ended Dec 04

Maybe there’s no christmas rush, because we can’t use the word christmas anymore? Bah, Humbug!!!
You mean we should be expecting a winter festival rush instead.
since there will be no christmas rush, surely that in turn would indicate no downturn after christmas either? they usually spend the next couple of months trying to flog off the excess stock but if they havent ordered it, they will still need their regular stocks wont they
