Good point, well made mate. You’re both wrong in that case, he only needed a 30.

You are right he did but he would get an infringement as he’d be done over 4.30
Example
drive 1:30
Break 15
Other work 15
Poa 2hrs
Right you can now drive 3 hours
Now you need a 30 Break BUT you will have to have a 45 min break because you will end up doing 7:30 with only having 30 mins break
Because the poa mode reset the driving time.#

Ah bollox, past caring!

But he hasn’t done over 4.30.
1.30 and 3 make 4.30.
Doesn’t really matter what the tacho display says, the print out will be correct and therefore no infringement will be produced.
He can have his 30 min break and then drive for another 4.30 then have another 45 to re-set the driving time.
It’s not difficult, just a pain in the 'arris when using POA.

He doesn’t have to take a 45 he only needs a 30 because he has already had a 15
“Example
drive 1:30
Break 15
Other work 15
Poa 2hrs
Right you can now drive 3 hours” = 4.30 driving time
At this point you take no notice of what the tacho is saying because it can’t differentiate between break and POA and you will have to calculate your driving time the old fashioned way using your fingers
It will only re-set itself when you have a 45 min break, there will be no infringement because the analysis software CAN tell the difference between break and POA

tachograph:

The poa box mode acts as a break on the tacho there for its reset your driving time although it has reset your time it does not class as a break so you still have 2.36 left don’t go over that time and you’ll be fine but you will have to have a 45 min break when you have driven the 2.36
Although you only need a 30 min break you will have to have a 45 to stop you getting a infringement. No he won’t.
The digital tachograph counts POA as break but the analysis software doesn’t, the biggest problem is that the driving time on the digital tachograph won’t be right until the driver has a 45 minute break.
Tachograph. You highlighted what ive said to be wrong and then say exactly what ive said
I don’t understand you !![]()

I said he needs a 45 Tacho says he needs a 45
You said he needs a 45 minute break to avoid getting an infringement which is completely wrong.
He can have a 30 minute break to reset his driving time and he will not get an infringement, however in order to get the tachograph straight he will need a 45 minute break.
It’s not the same as you said at-all.

OK OK the infringement bit i said is wrong then , you learn something new every day
But ive explaned everything the same as you !
I avoid the whole bloody lot of that bollox and never use POA.
If you are going to use POA I advise making a note of your driving/working time up to that point before you switch modes then you will know what you have left.
With the technology available today you would think these digi tachos would be able to know the difference…

It’s not a technology problem, the tachographs could easily be programmed to differentiate between break and POA, the tachographs are correctly programmed to EU specifications so blame the EU.

I would but I get phone calls on a regular basis saying Iust get more poa in
