It would be better if manufacturers fitted them so that they always had to be turned on when you start the engine rather than switched on when needed (or not) and ignored or forgotten about. At least then people would actually have to switch the bloody things on rather than leave them on all the time.
my 2001 galant estate has that for front and rear. it has buttons rather than switches so they auto-cancel when the lights are turned off and i am stealing that to put in my legnum to get rid of the ugly aftermarket rear fog button which is not auto-cancel
My mate’s just sold his Legnum, nice run around I found, pretty nippy but god it drank the juice - fit in up in Scotch
i used to spend £40 a week in the V6. now i spend £70 a week doing the exact same journey
totally worth it though for the versatility and stupidly low price for so much fun. and my car is a manual which is very rare

You expect stupidity from car drivers end of story, what you don’t expect is alleged professional drivers using them in particular National Express coach drivers.

FTFY
Well observed, you would expect the driver of the most valuable cargo of all would know such a basic rule.
I realise that I am now old and boring as I have come to the conclusion that if you need main beam on, then you are travelling too fast, likewise , if you need front fogs on then you are going too fast.
High intensity rears are to tell those behind that ARE going too fast that it may be a good idea to slow down a tad.
I have recently found that if I catch up to the man with the flag that proves I am far too reckless a motor driver…
I sort of understand the boy racers doing it they think it looks cool, but older people who probably have no interested in motoring, well the only thing I can think of is that they don’t understand what position the light switch should be in and don’t understand when to use certain lights. Hence why at the first sign of rain we see loads of fog lights.
I double manned a truck with a bloke who thought the side lights position was head the headlights, he wouldn’t accept it until I showed him the hand book where it stated Parking lights.
shame the BBC don’t still do public service adverts, can still remember the one about not using fog lights in the rain…think it was the guy off That’s Life who starred in it, the curly haired fella, might be wrong though
It’s not just the fog lights that are a problem. Has anybody else noticed that the impatient B’s in BMW & Audi’s have changed over to Seat Leons & Cupras now that the recession has hit? They seem to use the A5 like a drag strip.

You mean like Vauxhall do?
On my 05 plate Vectra they work like that but I rarely use the fog lights…
