Chas:
Me & that horse soon became firm friends & every Thursday he’d be visibly quite pleased to see me park up.
Used to deliver and park up at Army/Navy/RAF bases throughtout UK. Nice feeling getting head down for the night knowing a man with a gun is within sight! Park up where-ever now, thats why curtains have so many smillies
for me it had to be mid wales ( tywyn ).
i would park up near the ice cream factory and enjoy the finest ice cream ever and just sit and watch the red kites. a beutiful place no matter the weather.
Squiddy:
North/South is just an arbitrary direction and has no monopoly on up and down when looking at a map. Assuming you’re holding the map the right way up,
True, if you face north and and hold a map upside down then portsmouth would be at the north of the country not the south
Yeah but Portsmouth will always be the better place to be
It would if it was in the North and Scotland would be warmer

About 22 yrs ago used to do a Scotch run from bristol on a Monday for a Tuesday morning tip in Glasgow and then run down to Preston town centre to a light bulb factory to load up for Merthyr, so I would load there and overnight at the factory and opposite was a pub and I ended up playing for their darts team either home or away nearly every Tuesday. Of course all good things come to an end but it was good fun whilst it lasted.
Wow, thats the way to spend a night out
How did you manage the away games?
I also remember stopping overnight in Morecombe town centre where the old cattle market used to be, there was a cracking little cafe opposite that really cooked up great food at a great price and there was a pub round on the front that had all female barstaff in basques and stockings etc, I used to make 2 pints last all night.

Name the pub, I might have played against you!
Flippin hell you are talking about 21 yrs ago, it was walking distance to Preston town centre but on an old industrial estate ( probably houses or flats now ) anyway the pub was opposite the light bulb factory which will almost definitely not be there now.
Dennis Mays blockworks, St Stephen near St Austell in Cornwall. In the summer you can go for walks and take in the scenery, end up in nearby Nanpean at the Grenville arms for dinner or go to the Chinese takeaway next door, nice and peaceful at night too

I’m trying to think of where the light bulb factory was in Preston
In the early 80’s the lorry park in Sunderland was across the road from the local ‘Polytechnic’ which had a student bar and live band’s everynight I met a very accomodating student who then moved upto Houghton-le-Spring and for the next 5yrs I used park at the back of the petrol station in H-le-S at least 3 nights per week.

I think you may be right. Maybe I’ll get the next one animated.
the best 2 places ive ever had a night out was in Scotland one was up in mallaig after delivering some steel to the small boatyard there parked up on harbour had everything within walking distance and was lovely and quiet and the other was at ballachulish parked on the little industrial estate and walked back up to glencoe village for a walk and ended up having my dinner and afew pints in the clachaig inn. the walk back took for ever
the best place i’ve ever parked for the night was at the waterworks site at loch turret, above crieff. absolutely fantastic views and almost total silence, apart from the longhorn cows gently ■■■■■■■ in the next field… and the werewolves howling!
