Doesn’t matter how good the CB is, if your aerial is [zb].
Good aerial, with good swr, will make a cheap radio sound as good as an expensive one.

The only concern you should have about the radion is how your voice sounds, any CB radio is only as good as the antenea you hook it to, a linear onlt helps if the set up you have is crap, buy a good arial, I always used a Modulator, but if you can afford one get a K40.
In the 90’s two guys used to run Northampton to Southampton truck every night, both used burners and blocked people out, I was driving near Swindon one night and told them to turn the power off, I got a torrent of abuse in return but my point was proved … I had a basic Midland hokked to a Modulator on a standard 4 watts and they heard me plain enough even though the were about 40 miles away at the time. I also sat a t Wooley edge one night on channle 10 taking to a gut called King Creole who was sitting in Leicester Forrest east … Plain and clear, niether of us has extra power, just get a good arial.
