jesus steve feel for you mate, as you have said get to the doctors and get some professional help, this was obviously a traumatic experience and you will need to talk through before it builds up into something more like ptsd and the likes.
best of luck buddy the help is there grab it with both hands and sod it at the end of the day its a job your health is far more important.
Overnighting drivers being attacked is not a new thing. I remember one driver being kicked unconscious into a coma in Birmingham a few years ago when he went out to investigate noises outside his cab.
There are a few harsh realities. The design of many trucks makes it all too easy to nick diesel or remove the batteries putting drivers at undue risk. Secure parking is not an option for most drivers, as there simply not enough overnight parking available. Diesel even gets nicked from truckstops and MSA’s too, where they have CCTV cameras in operation.
You just dropped unlucky Steve, but hopefully you sharing will make other drivers think about what can happen (or worse) by jumping out the cab without knowing what is out there.
Isn’t it about time “Defending yourself” was legalized in this country?
I bet Texan truck drivers don’t get ponced about by hijackers with anything less than guns - since they can expect the driver to be tooled up himself!
Now, I don’t like guns - but in a state where you can still be executed for murder - no frey bentos door opener is going to risk their neck for a few gallons of diesel, when everyone present being tooled up so dramatically increases the risk of “someone being shot dead in anger”…

■■■■ Star well I’ve been told I’ve the body of a God.
Ok ok yes I might have been told a God like Buda but hell it’s still a God
Nah… I think those telling you meant that you need to get to Buda - if you want to star in any ■■■■ films!
Either that, or he was just being a “Pest”…

I thought I could cope with this but I’m not doing very well.
I am very depressed and still upset about it and my firm are not being that helpful.
I think I may seriously have to think about my life and if I want to continue as a driver.
I may need psychiatric help.
Is that through a doctor?
Please guys I’m desperate
Sounds like PTS, going to see a GP would be a good move. It sounds like a traumatic experience and will knock your confidence in more than just driving a truck, it is wise to go to the GP get some help.

Agreed, but be prepared to be told that there is a waiting list for psychiatric help. Crap but true, and i’ve heard it can be up to 18 months…
