Wouldn’t it be nice if we could chose what truck to drive, just like we chose what car to buy/drive. So folks, if in the ideal world, your boss came upto you and said your getting a brand new truck and that you get to pick it, no expense spared/the skys the limit!!. What would you choose to spend your hard days/weeks work in?.
I’ll be predictable, R730 Topliner.
Not bothered regarding make aslong as it has a high roof cab, decent mattress, electric curtainsider, air duster gun (an “air shower” is great for getting flour off yourself), decent taillift, good pumptruck and heavy duty sack truck*.
*Would gladly have the above instead of spotlights, fancy radio, tv etc.
No crappy murals of dead singers, ice maidens etc aslong as the signwriting says “flour” somewhere on it to stop the curtain slashers.
Oh and some brackets on the inside of the back doors to hang a broom, dustpan etc.
Second hand DAF CF and an extra 3 pound an hour.

I may be pedantic but there’s no such thing as a Topliner…it’s Topline.

You are being pedantic & I know what they’re called as I’ve bought a new r500
Hino 700 450, seriously, real manual gearbox, simple, tough.
Second choice DAF CF 460 manual.
Don’t do nights out so a day cab with a good sized rear window, and full control over the mid lift.

With you there mate.

This.
Real life. Renault Magnum with the largest engine and a brand spankers interior, oh and Mark H to polish all the chrome bits of course
Fantasy land a crew cabbed uni mog with central tyre inflation system and an in built pressure washer. Decked out to look like Optimus Prime naturally
ill second the magnum
r 730 topline
No more sleeping in msa’s for me
Totally useless pile of junk unless you want to take a camping holiday, it has the turning circle of the QM2 and is no use whatsoever in any road off a major highway, might look good but they are a curse for owner drivers when they have to deliver anywhere.
My choice in Europe would be any high roofed Scania.
My choice here is the one I drive now, it’s a nice roomy cab and it actually pulls like a train.
(As i have a stalker i’d better keep him happy as he follows every post i make.)
I would go for one of these
but with an automatic gearbox, cos i have no idea how the complicated manual one works, ( as i havent driven one for 5 years, im not a real man)
See some interesting posts here. I was half expecting chrome this, alloys that, tv’s fridges etc etc, 700 bhp. By the looks of things, all we really want is a truck that just makes our working days that little bit easier, which of course most of our bosses dont understand.
Now if i was given the choice of what rigid to have? I’d have to go back down the daf cf route with the space cab fridge and microwave. 75-360 or 85-430 but not sure if i wpuld have a manual or auto box. Amd it would run at 26t with 6×2 twin wheel rear lift tag.
As for artic unit? That to would have to be daf, cos i still think they have to biggest cab. Square maybe, big yes. Definitely auto and with over 530bhp. Superspace cab with all the extras leather fridge tv microwave. Alloys side skirts the lot, but with a nice one colour paint job.
Must say i like the look of them new actroseses, but my second choice would be that truck off Duel, barge my way threw some average speed checks in that baby
A volvo FH500 or a DAF XF
As long as it fit to do the job it supposed to
Pref with working fridge arm rest & cup holder
