what would you do?

In my experience companies could not give a one as long as the job gets done. My place rings me with a start time, it’s rare that the vehicle is in the yard when I get there, as I’m getting paid for waiting I couldn’t give one either. If you are after guaranteed finishing times you are in the wrong job. You ■■■■■■■■ about him to the office & then complaining when he does the same is shameful to you both, sort it out between yourselves or move on.

why should i be the last person to finish when on lates every time just because someone hangs the job out to get more over time in.of course i have reported it to mangement simply because i have tried to talk to him about it but he went to mangement about me,i am getting a bit ■■■■■■ off having to finish later than i should .

Sounds like you just can’t get on with the other driver, the whole telling tales aspect is a bit childish and I blame whoever started it.

If you can’t get on the request a transfer to a different shift or different colleague to buddy up with on this truck sharing.

I would just get on with it but then I’m yet to meet anyone who can stretch a job out as long as me.

Some live to work others work to live just unfortunate your teamed up with someone with a different philosophy to you, sure your a big boy and will sort it out.

the O/P is probably ■■■■■■ because the other driver is screwing the system to earn extra overtime, whilst he has to make do with basic hours!

It doesn’t matter if you’re hourly paid or not. Not everyone wants to be in work longer than necessary.

My thoughts exactly once iv got enough hours in for a half decent wage then I don’t want to be at work…iv met some right lazy “your paid by the hour” men over the years they may earn a bit more brass than me but there lives tend to be dominated by work…
Each to there own but just my view on things.

,have done print outs on the truck and can see what he is doing

How? Do you have some kind of crystal ball so you can see what is going on where he’s tipping? When it comes to this 30 minute break are you factoring in the working time requirements or just drivers hours?

My take on this is that something hasn’t been right between the op and the other driver for a while and what has started off as snotty remarks to each other has escalated into running to tell teacher on each other for any real or imagined transgression!

Op my advice would be to take the other driver to one side and explain your frustrations with him. In an ideal world he would then explain his problem with you, you’d then discuss it like proper grown ups until a mutual understanding was reached. The reality may of course differ and it’ll result in you rolling around pulling each others hair.

I’d opt for course 1 but would be happy to go with course 2 as life is too short to stress about what other people are doing.

Yep all hourses for courses really, there are those that will make the job last a bit above average to increase their earnings and those that want to get the job done and finished ASAP to get on with their lives. Sure their are a few that just take the pee

I like a happy medium but then my circumstances dictate that.

Got a 12 hour planned job the other day (4 hours was estimated waiting time) anyway both delivery and collections went as smooth as silk barely any waiting at all and got the job done in 10 hours and thats after stretching it out a tad.

Got home 2 hours early to be greated by the wife with a ‘what you doing home I have jobs to do and your early’- 2 hours later I would have been greated with a drink waiting and a nice foot and ego rub for braving the UK roads in my big truck.

no crystal ball, have been told from other drivers that when he arrives at delivery point he parks up then lets other drivers go in front of him to tip ,it takes 2 hours there ,2 hrs back so he gets to tipping point parks up ,after letting other drivers in front then gets tipped, comes of bay and has 45 min break, leaves yard then stops again for another 20 to 30 mins witch means when he gets truck back i then start,so instead of me finishing at say 21.00 i end up at 22.00 to 23.00 i end up with a later finish so he can stretch job out for himself

Phew.

For a minute there I thought you were every employer’s ■■■■■■■■■; a bloke who grasses up his colleagues for squeezing out a bit of overtime while at the same time working for free himself.

why should i be the last person to finish when on lates every time just because someone hangs the job out to get more over time in.of course i have reported it to mangement simply because i have tried to talk to him about it but he went to mangement about me,i am getting a bit ■■■■■■ off having to finish later than i should .

Does he take the same amount of time when he is on lates?

no he is one off the first to finish

Sounds to me like your oppo is doing the job right, he’s set his stall out and taking it steady, exactly what i would do, i wouldn’t be rushing the bloody job either.

If you’re belting round like a man possessed without a minute to live you’ll make a rod for your own back.

no driver should be working later than he/she should just because i driver wants to hang the job out, have a word with him ,if that dont work give him a slap then hand in your notice… :imp:
