what would you do????

Been offered a job hi-abbing hgv2. Currently 2 car transporting any suggestions please. The 2 car job is £8 hr. I guess the hgv would be more money? Thanks.

Who is it with?

Lad from our place worked with TP for like 15 years on hiab. Took a pay cut to come work for us (various reasons)

Approx £21k is our current rate.

Thanks for reply…ridgeons

From what my mate has told me, you can be delivering any where from building sites to people’s front gardens. Plenty of drops but you get used to it.

Having a quick look on website, 22 days holiday per year would suggest bank holidays off. I’d hazard a guess and say either no work at weekends or at the most half day Saturday.

Home every night.

So…what would you do then.please.

Well it’s pretty much the job I’m doing now only swap the hiab for a Moffett.

I don’t really know how to answer your question, everyone is different, but if your looking then you must want to move on.

I follow a simple route …

  1. is it more money?
  2. does it suit my personal life?

If the answer to the above questions are yes, then crack on drive.

Well, no one can say what they would do with the limited information provided.

What are the hours? Would they work for you?
Is the pay better/worse?
Are they going to provide hi ab training? If so, is there a bond for the training?

I did hi ab yonks ago. I didn’t like it. Multi drop dealing with moaning home owners and builders but that was me. I wanted to get onto proper transport and tramping so took my class 1. That was my personal preference. Good thing is if the hiab ticket is provided you’ll always have a meal ticket when pushed provided you keep the certificate current.

All I know is, im working for a 2 car transporter company for a week. I got an email from a company that I emailed ages ago and they said are you interested in our driving job. I need to decide…transporting is 8 quid n hour. Hgv probably more. Oh and I could walk to work if I chose hgv.

You need more information before you can make an informed decision. The rate of pay and hours being quite a big point!

Yes I agree, bloody nuisance isn’t it. I might hate hiab work even if it was £15 hr. Roll the dice

Why not ask them? Say you need more info. No one in their right mind thinks of moving jobs unless they know the terms.

It is a nuisance, It’s hard finding decent work on class 2 in my past experience.

Class 2 hiab in the midlands is around 9 pound per hour i have been offered it but turned it down

Chap that was on Walkers crisp’s in Bristol took early retirement 60 and landed a nice little job doing that in a 7.5t’r yes with a mini hiab (enough to pick up and kerbside drop blocks). he did have a fair bit of handball too but he said delivery’s were always at the road side closest access to the delivery address . ie if there was a ally way 300yrd long from the road that’s where you dropped it , at the roadside.
