Why? Driver is the one sat behind the wheel and is the one who chooses to break them. All that would result in is company gets fine, driver gets P45 and a crap reference.

Were do you start with the mess that is drivers hours? Get rid of the 24 hour reduced weekly. Not done it but doesn’t take an Einstein to work out that a 24 can result in a complete switch of the circadian rhythm in just one day. Genius.

Always going to be four points of view on the regs;
Road saftey,
Business,
Company driver,
Owner driver.

That said some simplfication would not be difficult.
All regs to apply to working week not fixed/working mix.
Maximum driving and duty hours the same for every day.
And for me forget the weekend compensation and give automatic exemption to renault magnum drivers. :slight_smile:

Scrap all the fixed week rules as that leaves daily max limits and between weekly rest ones which is fine for safety

Make daily rest at base/home a minimum of 11 hours

Maximum 12 hour day when returning to base with 12 hour minimum rest.

Scrap reduced weekley rest periods.

Work 2 days in 7, Max 8 hours a day with 14 hours break (don’t want to be lazy)
Minimum £50,000 per annum (don’t want to be greedy)
Allowed to do more than one job, but must be paid minimum £50,000 per annum. (Like MP’s & Doctors)
Switch all the 7.5 ton signs around to allow HGV’s & not cars. (Stuff the Nimby’s)
Sack all EU MP’s, because they’re all Lying A-Holes (come to think of it, sack our lot as well, let Anarchy Rain)
