New rules for lorry drivers will come into force in 2014 and there are fears that not enough drivers are completing their mandatory training.
In 2009 the EU ruled that all lorry drivers must have a Driver Certification of Professional Competence (Driver CPC).
But according to figures from the Freight Transport Association and Brit Insurance - there is a 46% shortfall in the number of drivers who have taken the test.

Err, what test? I believe it is, and will remain, a shortfall of100% of drivers who have taken the test.
After 37 years driving heavy trucks in the UK, Europe and the USA I have only met about 40 % of drivers who have the brains to pass such a test so I think the industry is on a looser 
There is without doubt a lack of drivers here who are not as dumb as a box of rocks. If a similar rule was bought in here the country would come to a standstill.

There is no test. You just have to turn up 5 times for 7 hours and you get the thing, no questions, no test.

had my DCPC done and dusted by this time last year so I’m fine til 2019 can’t wait for the ‘driver shortage’ come Sept 2014
might even lead to decent pay rates…ooh look!!
