Don’t forget about the London Lorry Ban before getting ideas of going all the way and nighting out outside the gates. Personally running out on Sunday when you’ve been tramping all week wouldn’t be something I’d do. You already have almost no life outside of work as it is living in the truck 5/6 days and running out on Sunday will just mean you have even less. His Sunday is ruined anyway with an early night and up at silly o’clock. Much better to get a night out in the wagon Sunday night then finish Friday for a full 45 hours + next weekend, thats providing this weekly rest is available to be reduced to start with.
Hourses for courses etc but as a tramper quality time is king and going to bed eary on Sunday then having to commute at silly o’clock would ruin my Sunday completely. Going tonight will allow him a virtually normal relaxed day (well unless he likes a beverage or two, but thats risky starting that early tomorrow anyway) then a nice relaxing evenings ramble down the A1 / M11 etc…
Edit: I’m presuming that the OP is being paid proper Sunday rate which will allow his company to get more work out of him tomorrow rather than having to be parked up at 3.30 or 5.30 because he started so early Monday morning…
Ive had my full 45 this weekend from friday so that isnt a problem, id rather have tea at home and bed early then staying out sunday night, i can only do the drop then get as far as i can after that out of london dependant on next drop

Your choice mucka, hourse for courses etc… You can look forward to a nice early park up tomorrow which will mean your pick of spaces at truckstops which is a good thing. Knowing my planners though if I said I had to be done by 3.30 or 5.30 pm they would have a tantrum in a teacup…
Let us know how it goes but take a 45 just before hitting the A13 (or 30 if youve had a 15 enroute).

Look mate, that movie was a mistake, I don’t want to talk about it, so don’t mention it again, OK?
I have spoke to ■■■■ Stallion about this, and he feels the same, we just want to forget it, so move on.

theres always some who would have a tacho that they could turn the clock back before leaving in the morning, then when your outside the gates, pull your card, put it forward again ,bung your card back in and ,hey presto,9 hours off?..if theres no tracker on the truck, then its sunday pay for not working sunday, and a heavy shift on Monday…perish the thought theres some would do that…though if they were, then obviously they would be cowboys and not on trucknet as everyone in here is squeaky clean with never an infringement.if it was ever to be debated, then obviously the truck was getting fixed on sat with the batteries out,and that must have buggered up the clock,or would someone else have a better excuse? every other weekend the 2 ferry terminals here,or castle kennedy are flatout with the sunday boat traffic listening to the same story.Do you still have a mullet and tache, wear Levi 501s with cowboy boots, lumberjack shirt and bodywarmer, with a Yorkie bar in your top pocket?..seeing as you have just arrived from the 80s
sure im in northern Ireland now,and when you get off the ferry or the plane, the tannoy announces, welcome to Belfast, please remember to turn your clocks back 30 years…
They can’t expect any more you say, the problem is mate, 9 times out of 10 they do expect more, and you end up doing another 15 on 9 off. Call me old fashioned, but I reckon the ONLY way to decide how to do it is work out if the Sun runner and night out is of more financial benefit to yourself than running at some bloody stupid hour, not whether or not it suits your boss, after all, that is why we work, to make a wage.

+1
I would be looking forward to a Sunday shift double time giving me a Friday finish for the next week. But to be fair we all do things differently and although I’m a cab happy bugger I can see the logic of having a night in me own bed albeit that i get a better nights sleep in the truck without the missus pestering me for the best 30 seconds of her life.

So you are giving old Ginger Tom a rest these days then eh?
, apparently the RSPCA have been infomed of my shenanigans and I now have to play it safe sticking to the same species till the heat dies down. The cat is not a happy bunny, but don’t get me started on what I do with our rabbit…

It’s what your missus does with the rabbit we want to watch !
I’m surprised the OP gets to make the decision. At our place, Sunday runs are planned and allocated, and if I chose to run out Sunday to suit myself, I wouldn’t get paid for it. A 9 a.m. tip in London would be a Sunday run for me, if asked to go Monday morning, I would politely decline.

Yeh, and me, a lot of drivers don’t realise that they are actually allowed to say…No (either that, or are too spineless to do so)

Same here.
Guaranteed Friday finish, overtime for Sunday, lie in until 7 Monday morning versus possible running in Saturday, out of bed at 2 am for no extra cash, feeling weary while fighting London Monday traffic.
I know what I would rather do. Maybe the OP might realise this around 8 o’clock tomorrow morning.
Either way im not fussed, can only do what i can, sleep can always be caught up on, and yeh il probably think alot different at 8am lol

Why are you not in bed?? You are up for work in 5 hours,…well you wouldn’t listen to us, would you
Love the “what would you do” threads. Nearly always ends up as “Thanks but I know best so I’ll do it my way” threads.
I could have come down sunday but had things to do, got here fine, couldnt believe how clear the roads where, had 45 on m11, rolled in to beckton in last hour fine now sat waiting for shunters coming back from breakfast to clear me a bay

Not being funny bud and no offence, but if you knew you had stuff to do Sun pm, it was a no brainer right from the off, and a bit pointless asking us for our opinion, …just saying like.
Anyway, as long as you got there safely.
