What would cause this/are the problems linked

tacho-do a print out and every things fine and there other than
x 03.19 00h13
dr 03.32 03 h12
x 06.44 00h02
dr 06.46 00h04
r 06.50 00h38
x 07.28 00h01
dr 07.29 00h03
r 07.32 00h34
dr 08.06 00h15
obviously ive used dr for driving/r fo rest, its just that first colum missing ,its not all the way down the printout, just on that section
also
the indicators are working fine on the outside of the truck, but on the dash when you turn them off they carry on flashing[in a random way] for a few seconds, hazards are the same, full beam as well, goes off o.k but stays up on dash, are the problems in some way interlinked, cant see it myself
n.b i also had problems in putting manual entries,i was inputting break but it kept comming up with other work,at first i thought it was me but then realised it was tacho, finally got manual entry in.
didnt know print out was obviously wrong untill i did one, indicators were finev then started to play up after a hour, stopped to check them, realised they were working o.k on outside, just dash wrong so carried on. ta

Thought you were a van driver? have i missed something?

2 things come to mind
either too many “funny” cigarettes
or an earth fault.

Given that a bad earth is unlikely to affect all those subsystems I would give up indulging in option one   :grimacing: :grimacing:

look boys, the kids only asking for some help, lets get that old dunkirk spirit back and sort the kid out regards mo

no cant see it being that

Cannot help with the other electrical Gremlins, but duff earth return sounds a possibility. The Tacho printout is quite normal for the latest series VDO units, the ones that record a whole minute to the longest continuous activity in that minute. They became legal fit earlier last year. The new Stoneridge ‘Exakt’ may do the same but I haven’t had the pleasure of playing with one of those yet.

On the new activity printout the columns will be; activity, activity start time and duration. In reality there was never any purpose in putting the activity end time because that was the start time for the next activity, if you get my drift.

The manual entry procedure for the new VDOs is slightly different in that it firstly allows you to call the entire period between card ejection and next insertion ‘rest’ with just a single button press. If you want to put something else in you have to account for all time between card card withdrawal and the next insertion. If you’re not careful you end up with 13 hours (other lengths of time available) of ‘work’ rather than ‘rest.’

So I don’t think the Tacho things are related to the other electrical games.

I don’t think it probably will fix the dash problems but I’d try a hard battery reset as a matter of course.remove both + and - leads from batteries and touch firmly together then carefully re-attach being careful not to short out the spanner against the chassis when re-fixing terminals.

Ady (or whichever of your multiple personalities you are currently inhabiting), I would recommend a brain/personality reset as soon as possible…
