Harry Monk:
But what are you reading/ did you read last, and what are your opinions of it?What made you choose to read that book?
Last book I read was called “The Naked Pilot - The Human Factor in Aircraft Accidents” (Factual Book)
The title says it all really! Only read it for a laugh on the plane whilst going on holiday to Greece! I wasn’t very popular with some of my fellow passengers
I’ve just read:
Hip Priest - The story of Mark E Smith and The Fall - which was a good (ish) book on a great band and singer, tho’ like all music bio’s a little on the fawning side.
previous to that - the biography of Martin Hannett (manchester based producer of bands like Happy Mondays, New Order etc).
but it’s not all rock n roll as they say.
I’m currently ploughing my way through ‘Experience’ by Martin Amis which I am finding to be a stunning book - quite heavy going in places and there are almost as many footnotes as the actual text - but Amis is at his mighty best here.
Next on the list - and between them almost enough to chock the wheels of a truck - is ‘The Life of Kingsley Amis’ by Zachary Leader, and when I finish that (some time in 2011 by the looks of it), ‘The Diaries of Evelyn Waugh’ by Michael Davie which I picked up from a secondhand bookstore recently.
