What trucks have you driven and wished you hadnt?

Bedford TK 6-wheeler and Scania 81 unit.

That’s easy, ERF A and B series, Bedford TM.

LAD cabbed Leyland Comet. They were produced for Snow White’s landlords. 900x20. :frowning: :smiling_imp:

About the worst would have been a twin steer Atki without power steering. It was used to pull 30’ bulk containers back in the days when you ‘needed’ 5 axles to pull 32 tons on a 30’ trailer. It spent all day pulling the loaded containers over the weighbridge and out to the waiting two axle units. With the last box it would come up to the Severn Bridge where the night man; (Moi) would take over for the run to Tilbury. No M25 so in past Earls Court, over Vauxhall and Tower bridge and down the A13.
It was OK on the motorway but a bit of a struggle through London, not helped by the light switches being rather long and right where I kept knocking them off with my knee as I explained to a policeman one night.
The return load was usually a 30’ flat of chipboard. So heavy both ways and slippery on the way back

A Kenworth T800, without doubt the biggest piece of junk I’ve ever driven, it was noisy, uncomfortable and unreliable.

I’d always wanted to drive a big yank truck and what a disappointment that was, like sticking your hand up Jennifer Aniston’s skirt and grabbing hold of a pair of bollox :open_mouth:

I was going to skip this thread because I thought every vehicle was an experience, then I remembered the International Harvester Sudden Accident 301, that was the biggest piece of garbage ever to sit on rubber tyres.

That photo is very misleading because on there it looks like a pretty lorry!

And because it’s a 400 - not a 301.

Sorry - someone was going to say it eventually…

Doesn’t that just say it all!

A s reg daf with a claped out eaton twin split and rubbish seat

Mercedes

Seddon Atkinson 3 11 tipper. It wouldn’t pull your ■■■■■■■■ back and you had to hold the diff lock switch in to use it. Great idea on a tipper not

mercedes crap

Guy Big J4 with and AV505 engine…Slow…noisy…deafenly so…cold in winter…boiling in summer…rough suspension…Definitely a torture chamber on wheels…got into a V10 Merc after that…though I died and went to Heaven

Renault 290 GT … demo… :frowning: :frowning:
After a couple of days I asked for my Leyland Roadtrain back … Enough said

Jerry

The first lorry i ever drove Albion Clydsdale tractor unit 1968 and the 2nd Guy BigJ4

I’ll bet I’m one of the few TruckNetters who’s driven a ROMAN.

It was a column change contraption with a MAN cab, knocked together in Rumania …

mercedes ,the early ones wouldnt pull you out of bed,the latest ones seem to spend most of the time at the dealers being repaired.

I am sure Lord Bewick will tell me off as well.

Anything produced by Mercedes, German Bedfords, which is an insult to Bedford, hated these things.
