lol
When i passed my test in 1999 i was given a f12 400bhp on a G reg and what a motor it was,on bulkers for maguires of cheltenham great job as well
They did promise me a sacnia 111 W reg but i got the volvo instead.
I think that I’ve enjoyed driving most of the various trucks that I’ve driven over the time. I enjoyed driving for Tesco in those wonderful Axors( ). I enjoyed driving MAN TGA’s for DHL prior to that, (miss that comfort shift). I enjoyed driving right into central London with an ERF Olympic with Eaton twin-splitter, (the evening crowds on Regent Street thought that screwing an artic round without taking out the street furniture was part of the entertainment). Lastly, and currently, I’m enjoying driving the Daf85 I’ve had from brand new.
At the moment I’m happy with my 2005 Scania R420. It was the first time we upgraded from the 4 series P cabs and it shows in the spec compared to the later 2007/09 R series Scanias we have, better trim, better gearing etc. Had a new Turbo and intercooler 2 years ago so still feels fresh compared to the other 05s. Been offered a newer truck but unless it’s better than what I have I’ll stick with mine thanks.
Just started in a volvo and found the dash impratical, I have found a daf has the most pratical layout for nights out. it has a big flat dash to stick my tv and digi box on, it has a pull out tray to stick my stove on and then my plate. I dorve a renault at one point and the dash sloped downwards towards the windscreem ■■■■■■■ french
Circa 1990 working out of Magor brewery on kegs, and Western Corrugated driving a MAN 16.332 or a 1735 Merc, no cameras, no speed limiters, and strippers in Chesterfield truck stop.
2003-2008, working for Nationwide Access (Skylift). Was nominally allocated a 17m Aerial platform on an Iveco chassis.
And whilst it did have it’s bad bits, I got used to them and enjoyed my time driving it around the UK. Hopefully now I’ve got my cat C I’ve got some more room to spread my wings with

Has to be moving from an old leyland clydesdale to a Volvo F88 in about 1982. Like swapping a mini for the space shuttle ! I was the dogs ■■■■■■■■, ruled the world I did, crap work though 8 loads a day quarry to tar plant all day every day. Cant have everything can you.
Best time for me was when I drove a MAN Roadhaus FE410A (and the MAN 403’s and 414’s before it) for a company called Bertschi AG, happy days, it was my last job on international and probably the best job on international I ever had. I dont know what its like now that was 10 years ago, but at the time nothing was a problem, well paid and well looked after.
my best time has to be working for ctd last summer flat out round the bends on the A22 in my daf lf55 250 on the way back to the yard every day. that lorry was a racing truck

Makes me laugh mate 20+ years later im still tramping uk only now and she seems happy enough but then as me old dad used to say “son your not supposed to understand them”
The best times i had were working nights with my mate racing identical ERF 8x4 bulk tippers around Milton Keynes at 3 in the morning on the way back to the yard.Empty roads empty trucks 16 speed box and a awful lot of drifting and a lot of grinning
Would like to add one more.
Giltspur Bullens, running out of South Street in Glasgow in 1988.
2300 DAF artic running all over the UK doing furniture deliveries, office removals and ATM installation’s etc.
Depot’s I remember were Newton-le-Willows, Hinckley, Greenford and somewhere near Tottenham.
Could be away for 2 weeks at a time on big removals that were far away.
Workmates were a crazy bunch on the edge, but I still have a chuckle at the memories.
one the best times i had was driving in europe for a lad in lutterworth i started of on a magnum then ended up with a volvo fh globetrotter it was all black with a yellow and blue flash on the side ex demo so had leather seats side skirts and fully covered at the back with chequer plate wouldnt look out of place today,my biggest regrets was not keeping the photos i had took they got lost when i got divorced or more likely burnt and the other regret was not doing a kazachstan run when i was offered one, after that time there i ended up working at rh freight for a short time.
