Coffeeholic:
If I was interviewing someone for a driver’s job, and I have in the past, I would immediately discount anyone who turned up in a shirt and tie, you’re going for a labourer’s job not to work in a bank. Smart casual would suggest to me the person has a bit more about them and has thought it through than the one who turns up dressed for a wedding or court appearance.
Suggesting that drivers are only labourers is, I assume , one of your little wind ups.
You assume incorrectly, that is what the job is. I have always regarded it that way and always referred to it as such on these boards, a semi-skilled labourers job.
I never suggested looking like a scarecrow, I said smart casual.
Not taking the job is good news, that way neither of us will be disapointed.

I have been a truck driver and also a transport manager, so I can see it from both sides of the desk. I would definately turn up in shirt, tie, trousers and clean shoes. You only get one chance to impress. You can wear your polo shirt and jeans if you get the job.
Well thats my opinion anyway
+1
Just think that thee interview is a date with a stunning blonde and just make sure you go out of your way to impress her

Where i come from, if you turned up for a “date” with a stunning blonde she’d fall over backwards in fits of laughter.

Probably not ideal to have painted nails etc but abit of slap on the face would be fine, aslong as you dont look like your off on a night out in essex.
