I’ve got an interview tomorrow and I’m just wondering what things I should take with me such as certificates from school/college etc. As I’ve not had an interview since the beginning of this year so I’m a little rusty with what to take etc! The jobs doing what I already do (warehouse jockey) but more local, better hours (I get my weekends back!) and more money.
I imagine that for a job such as you describe, thats about all you can take with you for proof of your educational achievements.
A reference from your current employer would look good also, but difficult to get I imagine
Thanks for the tips guys, I’m a little worried asking for a reference as 2 weeks ago I was pulled into the office over rumours about me planning on putting in my notice and jacking in the job. Cut long story short I told her it wasn’t going to happen, but now asking for a reference it looks like I’ve been BSing them so they could easily turn round and not give me a so nice notice or refuse to give one full stop. Not sure how I’d go about that one!

Every single interview I have done they ask me if they can contact present Employer or its been on the application form, this is for situations exactly like yours.

A lesson learned.
Be careful what you say to workmates!

and what you put on facebook and forums as you dont know who see’s what you have put
I generally don’t talk about things like wanting to leave the job etc I do have more sense than that, but when I was pulled up about what I said. I explained what i actually said, and if the person who ‘informed’ the upper folk got their facts right they would understand my actions if I was to leave. I won’t go into it on here but it’s more of a start than most people my age get if things go as planned. And ironically she understood and even said the company isn’t likely to pay out for something like that and if I have a shot at my career to go for it.
But since then I’ve said nothing, it’s like a playground having to watch every word in case folk decide to ‘tittle tattle’ on you. A lesson well learnt. But I’m looking forward to tomorrow, I hope it’s a sign of good things to come.

If its that life changing for you make sure that come across.
Best of luck.
I went for a job interview with two wee women interviewing and they asked me what I had watched on telly that week, I think they were using a technique for employing a managing director as it all got weirder and weirder, the first one I knew I didn’t get (as I got itchy feet and started making eye movements towards the door) that I walked away laughing from.

The job I’m going for isn’t really life changing it’s more for convenience as it’s better paid (anything above 4.75 p/h is a god send! As I was refused my pay rise twice as the other 2 apprentices got theirs…) and it’s local so travel expenses are more than halved
I had a weird interview like that, I was given a bit of paper and told to draw something that I would try and sell to a gardner and then I would at the end of 10 or so minutes try pitch my sale to everyone…I did great on that! Still didn’t get the job though
But I am looking forward to the interview, be good to talk about the wealth of experience I gained in the past 9 months. Doesn’t seem that long but I’ve done a lot in that time that’s for sure!

Your reasons would be life changing for me mate.
As I say, best of luck and remember to give the wee ■■■■ who stuck you in about it a wee wave and a smile when you get it.

I shall, as I already have my suspicions as to who I think spoke about it. But I won’t lower myself to their grade, I’m better than that and those who can rise above that crap always ends up better sometimes than fighting it. It’s a bridge I don’t mind burning but I’d rather leave on good terms than bad ones.
I wonder if they’ll be impressed at 18 I was project manager tidying up the pallet yard and my efforts were met with a thumbs up from the H&S manager. We shall see!
