Whilst it’s probably a good idea to carry those things there’s no general regulation that says you must carry a first aid kit or eye wash bottle in the UK, if you have an ADR ticket there maybe ADR regulations that require you to carry certain first aid items when transporting certain chemicals but dieseldave is the best person to answer that one.

AFAIK, you’re spot-on about there being no general requirement for a first-aid kit or eye wash on general UK work.

There are certainly a fair number of required items of PPE when carrying an ‘in scope’ load of dangerous goods, and eye wash is on that list. Surprisingly perhaps, a first-aid kit isn’t on that list. :open_mouth:

However, the eye wash isn’t required when carrying UN Classes 1 (explosives) or 2 (gases.)
The other oddity is that the eye wash is ‘per vehicle,’ and not ‘per person.’

I notice the OP didn’t specifically mentioned ADR. However, despite that I still agree with carrying such safety gear as your personal first aid kit, any medication you may require as well as the usual small pack of paracetamol/ibuprofen/aspirin/Imodium/whatever applicable as when you’re on the road, finding those things when you need them can be complicated.

If it is an ADR load then the vehicle should have them on board, as well as all the other gear as required under the regulations.

Non ADR, and it’s more up to you. In time you’ll work out what you need/want to carry but I do also reccomend carrying your own torch, pens, notepad, down time entertainment (ie book/kindle etc) and handwash either as the waterless gel or handwipes…

But we’ve covered all this before haven’t we

cheers for that boys 40yrs driving and still learning
