Right after 25 yes I’ve had it up to here with the haulage industry, I know you guys still love it so please realise I’m not trying to be dirogitory to anyone, I’m just looking for ideas for a career change at 50. Sensible answers please.
Have you thought about buses? They give you a big toy to play with and you get to meet Joe Public .

Not me, and I’ve only been doing it on and off for 10 years. The working conditions are prehistoric compared to other jobs I have done. You have my sympathy and good luck finding something else. Sorry I can’t give you any suggestions but that really depends on what you enjoy doing, and what your skillsets are.
relocate to Ireland…set your clock back 30 years.and relive your life in the land that time forgot.thats what I did…works well.
Have you got any hobbies or interests outside work? Perhaps you could develop one of these into a change of career.
I taught myself to swim about 7 yrs ago and have never looked back. I did this as a way to keep fit without the impact of running or the strain of weights etc. I don’t swim fast - I look at it as a bit like yoga in the water with good breath control and body alignment. I always feel good when I get out of the water whether I’ve done 1 length or 1 mile
I taught myself by watching youtube online and through videos, books etc and eventually became very confident in the water. I have since trained to become a Level 2 ASA swimming teacher and absolutely love it. I volunteer at my local pool on a saturday morning and teach up to 80 children.
After doing this for a few months I have finally decided that this is what I want to do - I am looking for work in this field and can’t wait to get away from haulage. After 27 yrs I think I’ve served my time!
If anyone would have told me 10 yrs ago that I would be following this path I would have thought they were crazy!
It all goes to show that you are never too old to try new things and you don’t know which doors will open because of it.
By the way, I am 53 and have just found out what I want to be when I grow up!
Go for it!
I often read of many drivers who are disillusioned ( sorry for spelling ) with the industry and want a change, there is no definitive answer realty to advise of a career change, once you have been a trucker for a number of years its hard to readjust in my opinion, I still have an affection for the lifestyle this industry offers, and many drivers wouldn’t want to change, but that depends on many factors, wages, maybe they would have to take a drop, weekend working, maybe now you don’t, but possibly would have to, 15 hour days, maybe you don’t like those ( many of us don’t ) early starts, late finishes and of course the ideal is 9 - 5 with the money that goes with it, the reality is you have to study all over again, then be accepted to be on good money with less hours, and for most its not going to happen, and don’t forget the age related issues, I am 68 and just embarking on a new venture, which means travelling abroad once again, only backwards and forwards to France, and in a left ■■■■■■ which I havnt driven for a few years, but it doesn’t faze me, but if the government paid me, what they pay the immigrants, maybe I could retire on a decent pension and give the job to someone else.

don’t know about still love it .
I suppose it depends on circumstances, ( how much money you need coming in etc ) if its just to get off the road a forky licence and a job at your local RDC ,well you could use the canteen and not have to wait for notes
Ive found what you do with your time off is the most important thing.
Work to live, not, live to work.
