Luckily I booked a this week off in June — well three days up to Christmas, and that combined with the weekend is a record nine days (including weekends of course).
I am back next Monday up to and working New Years Eve. Then again back Friday. Happy days…

My ‘leisure’ week (I only work 3 out of 4 weeks) just so happens is the xmas week!
I finished sat. morning and dont go back to sunday night… 8 nights off. okay I am working then up to New Years Eve (1 night off) then back New Years Day, supermarket/DC work, but its great! and its all paid for, most handsomely!!
I finish this Wednesday at lunchtime and start back on the 2nd of January, most of our big customers broke up last friday which can only mean one thing this week less proffesional builders and more d.i.y.ers .
break up xmas eve dinner time(earlier if i can get away with it ).then back on monday till new years eve(as above) and they give me the option of having the 2nd off as holiday .
Drove saturday, will be off till the 5th at the earliest! Its ironic, this year I didnt want the time off really because I have no holiday pay, but have got it, other years I always took 2 weeks off regardless of pay! Things never go to plan…
Before i left the Uk I always had 10 days off but here they don’t even believe in Boxing day, I have to book it off as extra, … and they wonder why I prefer good old blighty at xmas.
All our customers have shut down till the 5th Jan so I too have finished till then.
This is probably the only benefit for doing multi drop steel, roping & sheeting in a bloody artic, I must be mad - prepare ye for the wind and rain/snow.
