What things would put you off a job?

I noticed a comment on the Maritime thread that somebody wouldn’t like to work for a company because the motors are restricted to 52mph. I’m sure that after a few weeks you’d get used to it but I wouldn’t fancy working for a company with restricted motors like this either.
Is there any silly things like this that would make you think twice about applying for a job?

(1) Paying for shifts
(2) Paying employer’s stamp
(3) Not getting booked for scheduled absence cover - only for last minute sick cover
(4)… And for actual full time work? - A working week longer than 40 hours salaried. :imp:

You get used to 52 in no time & don’t look back. That’s my experience anyway, far more relaxing.

I’m someone who’s quite keen on appearance, I like a company uniform. If I notice a firm with a lot of scruffy looking drivers in filthy high vis’s, jogger bottoms & rigger boots etc., it’d put me off. I wouldn’t ever do tippers or owt like that, clean work please.

I like trunking. Up tip load back drop go home. Been doing this 8mts love it easy as pie

1 Early starts b4 7
2 Poor OCRS scores and/or poorly maintained vehicles
3 Too far to travel (over 45 minutes)
4 Poor pay (under £10 an hour)
5 Fridges
6 Night out allowance under £25
7 Parking/tunnels/tolls not reimbursed in full in a timely manner
8 Constantly being poorly planned. i.e. tipping at places with known long waits near to end of shift.

Perhaps this goes some way to explaining why I haven’t been in a truck for a while

Getting dirty. I wear clean kit and polished boots
illegal operations. I bend but wont break the law
single figure hourly rates
less than 50 hours a week
being spoken down to
too many company policies being rigidly enforced when they are just BS

Anything more than the very occasional general haulage load. The thought of sitting in an rdc every day would make me puke. Sitting in a skanky room, on skanky seats, listening skanky drivers telling the same bull ■■■■ stories is a no go idea in my eyes.
Would rather tip aldi and lidl.

Much happier with a dirtier job. Tends to keep the hand wringers at bay.

Anything other than weekly pay in full & on time would put me off, as well as constant unnecessary phone calls, being spied on & being treated like a child:!:

+1 Bit of honest muck never hurt anyone, about the only job i wouldn’t consider is having to deliver to the modern day Gulag, the large RDC, where outside drivers are considered the enemy.

Other than that no nights out for me any more, except for unforseen circumstances.

Trackers, debriefs, constant phone calls, company’s that try to rule your life for you. No thank you

You don’t agree with Happysack? I do, I’d rather get my hands dirty at Aldi and Lidl, I have done, than sit and listen to the same drivel at any RDC.

Being spied on and constantly changing H&S criteria.

My main priorities when looking for a job are 1) Pay being on time every time, 2) A decent well maintained fleet, dont care if they are all Renaults or whatever as long as they are looked after 3) A good attitude from the office staff.

I totaly agree with him sitting in rdcs or even sitting round on containers would drive me mad.

No long hours and must be legal, enough money to pay the bills and enjoy the time off …end of.

Work to live people! not the other way round

Sorry mate, I read it as you meaning the opposite. My mistake.

Good luck with that one,do you interview the employer    :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Companies always on the limiter would put me off.
