Heh-heh. This a million times. At the Runcorn factory at Howdens they have a massive trailer park but painted all the bays at an angle the wrong way round so they’re all a blind side reverse which is real fun in the dark especially when its raining because you can’t see a damned thing out the nearside mirrors. It gets even worse when we’re in the busy period and drivers dump trailers opposite them so you’ve even less room to reverse in.
I swear Howdens take a look at an industrial estate, find the worst unit to get a truck in and go “this looks good, we’ll have this one.”

+1
I always thought the park had been designed by a foreigner and to them, the bays were the right way round for LHD! Always amazed me you had to blindside and at night in the rain its a pain in the arse, esp when someone is watching you and waiting to get past.
I also hated when the trailer I needed was at the extra park at the end. Trailers in bays were blocked by abandoned trailers in the middle. Its a nightmare in there
Odd days:
Whilst not condoning bad driving at all. How many places now want to get a quart in to a pint pot. For example they go to the bother of employing an expert to design something, do risk assessments etc then ignore it. Ie laid out for say 10 trucks then someone decides to put a container in one space as they want extra storage but still expect to park the 10 trucks still. Then complain if a bumper is clipped.
I agree that there are some very optimistic yard designers, but you can always refuse to go in, and if you have a damage penalty, then it will be in your interests to do so.
Many years ago, I worked for a Guy who only ran a few trucks. Any way, one day I arrived at a farm to drop off a load of fertiliser. To be fair, it had a really nice looking concrete trackway, only that on one side all the tree’s and hedge row was over grown, taking a good 6’ away down one side of the track, and on the otherside there was an unprotected drop of a about a foot on to a field, leaving about 7’ of usable track, I wouldn’t go down it, told him he’d have to fetch down to the road with his teleporter to unload, he wasn’t happy, took 1 bulk bag at a time all the way back up the track, 2 hrs to unload, but at least I still had mirrors or hadn’t ended up with one side in the field with god knows what damage done to unit and trailer.
So accidents might happen, but lack of thought or consideration does to
Oh and I wasn’t hourly paid, I was on %, so technically I was losing money taking 2 hrs to do a 30 minute tip, but I had my professional pride intact as well as the truck
