What should I tell my [non truck] fleet manager?

I think you mean the co. name and it seems you’ve already found the edit button

At least you were not like the numpty Porsche driver recently discussed on here who tried to hold his line against an artic moving in on him.

And just think, if the OP had shot off into the distance to get himself out of the truck sandwich and tried to get in half a mile from his junction that he wanted to exit, he’d have more than likely found himself in a worse situation where a truck wanted to pull out from the slower lane into lane 2 (if he could see the traffic was slowing on the approach to the exit slip), OP needing to slow as truck wanted out whatever the consequence and a truck behind OP, obviously needing to slow (irrespective of him dabbing the brakes or just coming of the gas) giving him the horn/beams etc because OP has caused him to drop a couple of k’s. Sometimes, no matter what you do, you are always deemed to be in the wrong if you are in a car/truck. I maybe would have eased off a bit on the slip, (which is all well & good if you are the only vehicle there, another flashing and a hooting received if you have an artic behind who wants to enter at full tilt) for the simple fact that I don’t fancy being stuck in between 2 artics. Rock & hard place spring to mind!

Well, I had my chat with Mr PC yesterday and that was interesting.

Apparently, the wind caused the lorry to move into lane one when I was beside him. It was was entirely unintentional according to the driver.

I gowped at this and asked Mr PC if they were talking to the right driver. He assured me they were as they had identified his vehicle from the video my FM supplied and whilst a poor shot of the driver when behind me he did in profile have the right build etc.

Mr PC noted to me that he was asked why the wind would have turned his horn and indicator on and mentioned that this evidence is primarily from a video recording, rather than the witness statement. At this point the driver shut up with no more comments.

NIP’d for careless by Mr PC verbally, looks like court unless he pleases guilty before.

Thanks for your help guys.

Court yesterday. Driver changed his not guilty plea just before the hearing, didn’t even have to go in the witness box. Thought if I did, I’d have swerved out to the left, shouted beep and turned a torch on and tried to lamp the driver one for me having to take a day off work unpaid (contractor). (Though I can claim that back with paperwork…).

6pts and fine for the driver. Now unemployed so fine not as big as judge would have liked to impose but a “burden” onto the guilty party…

Thanks for the helpful comments, made the prospect of going to court a bit easier every time I re-read the thread.

And thanks to all the kind truckers who do flash you out when there is space, and I’ll always return the favour, obviously a difficult job these days for not much reward judging by many other threads.

That’ll make the truck driver think twice before doing the same type of antics again.

This story sounds fake

as above…very quick to court too…

I don’t think a judge would try a minor traffic offence.

If the case did go before a judge for some reason, it would go before a magistrate first, then be adjourned probably for months.

its almost a who is this :::: in a Merc moment on the M1  mind you I may be wrong, I got halfway through the description of the event and went boss eyed :open_mouth:

Not really that quick considering foreigners are getting hauled into court immediately to stop them leaving the country before prosecution.

Seems a pretty cut and dry case with the video footage so wouldn’t need the CPS to spend loads of time putting together the bundle for court or chasing endless witness statements. Most days in most magistrates courts there is space. In family law cases it is usual to get a date for a directions hearing with a specialist Judge in under 4 weeks, and in a lot of cases under a week if you’re flexible and ready to go, so the time frame in this case is completely feasible.

yes it would seem it has to go to magistrates court first…mmmmmmmm…

This is all fantasy. A ■■■■ and bull story by some sadcase who doesn’t like truck drivers. I’ve just read it start to finish and to be frank I’ve heard better in RDC canteens.

The author will be someone who fantasises about being a Police Officer. You know the type that ride ex Police Pan Europeans.

That or it’s Johnny Truckfest’s little brother.

What’s the betting it’s the micropenis from the recent Luton/Asda video topic?
