So I’m in a bit of a quandary. I’ve been off the truck as a driver for a month, but tomorrow I’m doing a days worth of holiday cover, all good so far…
I’ve had a designated truck and manitou for the last three and a half years, fitted with an HGV sat nav, but as I’m no longer a driver “my truck” is in the arms of a new fella, and apparently it would be unseemly to take it off him for my benefit.
So the problem is this, my truck tomorrow, won’t have a sat nav, won’t have a heated seat, will have the oldest manitou on the fleet on the back, and has curtain poles made of heavy steel rather than the light weight aluminium poles I’m accustomed to. To top it all off I won’t be on “my patch” either, and I’ll have to use a Gen1 Stonebridge Tacho to boot!
What happens if I don’t know where I’m going? How am I going to navigate? What do I do if my precious derrière gets chilly sitting on my underpowered Manitou? Do I complain about this victimisation? I’ve been told I may even have to do a second run to do, I’m just not sure this is fair…
Some words of wisdom from some of you might help me in my hours of need… Oh and if you see anyone in a red rigid near MK looking, lost/sad/angry please offer me a kind word and remember my plight.
I should probably stipulate the above post is a bit of fun, and after a month in an office am looking forward to getting back out on the road, and going native and natural for the navigation
No heated seats… put ya head between ya legs and kiss it good bye. Please tell me its an auto. If the mirrors are not electric then look for another job.

I’d not quarry yourself over the second run. Putting up with such abysmal conditions I’ll wager you will not live to see to end of the first run, let alone make a second run. By God man, your life is riding on skates taking to the cobbles in this charabanc.
