Trucker should be on around 30 - 35k for driving the artics… I’m no trucker but wanted be one as my dad is a trucker but I drive trains am on 49k for a 4day week (35 hour) I handle loads up to 3000ton at 60mph. If I was to have a career move it would be into the tankers but not sure if I’m old enough? As I’m 22 this year.

welcome to the site pal you stick on the trains, on that pay and your age!
49000 for a four day week would take us two years to earn that!
a mate of mine drives for a certain firm in skem that pays trampers £6.75ph and shift drivers £8.42ph thats days or nights. apparently trampers do more hours so should be on a lesser rate ? ? ? oh and you get your breaks taken out of that. ive never heard of any other firm doing this it ■■■■■■■ stinks
A ■■■■■■ a week and 30k a year after tax.also a new truck six monthly
nearly there:

Always practice safe ■■■, make sure the handbrake is on and you should be ok.
Every driver individually and collectively at each firm regardless of what they are driving should always aspire and do something about increasing their wages to the maximum amount not greedy but every driver is worth it, the owners of companies board of management at these companies wont increase wages they are more likely to come to the conclusion to drive wages down further.
The vote will create debate on what a driver should be paid but haulage companies wont take any notice.
This thread is a fine example of everything thats wrong with this country, it screams the, “we want more and are going to do less for it”, attitude thats is driving the country into the ground!

Theres another one just like mine, they bought them as a pair when i first started as they didnt have enough lorries. Its a really strange fleet, out of 45 trucks i’d say at most only half of them look the same, they’ve got some really odd spec lorries aswell, such as a lowline R series with 560 engine and leather seats.
These boys are on 13 quid an hour and lucky if they drive more than five hours a shift, they get shares and plenty of time off.Could understand the “dont care” if they had to do “real” work for [zb] pay
Wonder if they will care when the company looks at the cost of breakdowns and damage and says "Ah zb it its cheaper to get the likes of Stobart in to run the distribution let them have the hassle of dealing with a load of useless whining buggers. They wont be there long will soon have a few more Poles to do what they did but for half the price.
Then watch the tears fall and it will all be some bugger elses fault.

Crikey! £13 an hour I wish, I can tell you first hand that It’s considerably less and that goes for the majority of other supermarkets, with lots of weekend work and strange start times and single rest days It’s not the holiday camp everyone thinks, how many drivers would start at 01.30 do full load on an artic backload and tip the trailer then go and do 3 roadside deliveries in a rigid.
And It’s also quite rare to drive for 5 hours a shift most shifts last 10 to 12 hours with 8 hours+ driving the norm and if it could be done cheaper by subbing out it would have been done already

There’s your problem - yes it stinks but they must be getting drivers or they wouldn’t be trading.
I bet it’s not all Eastern Europeans either.
