What sat nav

Not run a Nav in a few years, may be needing to get 1 soon,
Whats good out there thats wagon friendly?

Would get a decent car one Garmin or Tom Tom etc and then buy a truckers atlas and use the two in conjunction with one another, why go to the expense of a Snooper when a £20 pound atlas will do the same thing

Not going to tell which one is better, tom tom, garmin or snooper e.t.c as I have used only one of them and can not compare.
I am using Tom Tom 5150. It does his job well. Still have to keep an eye on signs.
Still have couple of maps but mostly rely on Tom Tom. Because:

  1. Once you take wrong exit it will redirect you in couple of seconds rather park on hazards and try to figure out what to do next. Same with closed far any reason roads.
  2. And most useful thing for me is arrival time. Works perfectly and counts all the traffic congestions. As I am new to driving have no idea how long it takes to get from A to B. Had one delivery this week which according to Tom Tom was 4:35hrs away. 53 on duals and 42 on singles made my driving time down to 4:28. Handy.
As said above think the car sat nav could do the job together with some truckers atlas. Yet again. Car sat nav may take you down the single file roads same time truckers one tries to avoid them. Might be fine for Rigids but headache for Artics as we have to use them quite a lot.

Chris @ hgvtruckingtables.co.uk £59.99 and a LOW BRIDGE ATLAS FOR A SCORE! :sunglasses:

Already got a low bridge Bible

I have had limited dealings with TomTom car nav’s and the one i used seemed to change the original route that it came up with, which i checked to make sure the route was main roads where possible, it decided to change that route whilst i was driving , it did this twice the second time it attempted to route me in the opposite direction of the destination entered,
I also found the displayed instructions somewhat confusing especially when getting tired, it tended to give instructions before it should,
Tom tom nav’s IMO haven’t really improved over the past 6-7 years, other brands maybe better ,
But i think a cheapish laptop with internet access (google maps) maybe a better option , but best of always carry some maps too, just incase
