Caught a glimpse of this whilst at work the other day. Couldn’t resist pulling up and creeping up the fence to snap it.
Not the Bedford tractor…(although worth snapping in its own right!)
Obviously an unfinished project of some sort.
Now, I have always known that Thurnscoe, the tiny ex mining town nestled on the borders of Barnsley and Doncaster is a rough old place…but just what are they expecting
It puts me in mind of the South African armoured police vehicles that were used to quil the riots in Capetown ( a regular sight on the evening news when I was a kid)…maybe not so out of place in Thurnscoe afer all eh?
That was my first thought a South African SPOOK which we used up on the Angolan border in 1976 but they were on Bedford R.L. chassis and were supposed to be partially anti land mine proof.
What ever it is I would sack the bloody welder .

The wheels don’t look familiar- I would guess that it was built on an American chassis, for some security application. It looks like it was designed by a welder- one who was short of work! Either way, it looks as if he has given up, judging by the rust on it.
Hi hilltop, nice picture It looks like some home made contraption. Here is one that I took a couple of years ago in Savastopol,it was being used to advertise a bike show, but why it was constructed I have no idea.

Hello all - a suggestion is that maybe it’s a ‘poor boy’ personnel carrier or valuable goods transport. The design looks more to deflect gunfire rather than protect from land mines
