Sounds terrible.
Italian wine in one hand, French bread in the other.
On a hot summers night I’ll bet it was simply awful without a fridge.

However did you cope?

Where would this stop ? Drivers complaining about a fridge yet happy with [zb] wages
Think maritime are famous for fully specced trucks and poor wages.
I know I’d rather have extra cash then a fridge.
The same misconception is constantly peddled on here that if you happen to have a nicely spec’d truck you must be working for pennies.

There’s not a lot of drivers who get much of anything let alone a fridge or doesn’t your train of thought go that far■■■■■ to be them, maybe if they were good enough at what they do they would get good jobs with good employers instead of companies that won’t even give someone a fridge nearly 2 decades into the 21st century.
If you’re stupid enough to work for a knob that doesn’t give you good terms then you deserve all you get. Or don’t get.
A.
What’s to suggest they aren’t good at their jobs? It’s more likely to be the “take it or leave it, we’ll get someone in that will do it” scenario, as has been mentioned on other threads today’s employment is mortgage blackmail, do you take the job or not bills to pay etc.
As you say 2018 will be on us shortly and throughout the industry drivers welfare is not questioned by employers, if anything it’s sidestepped, it may get a mention that things are in the pipeline and then nothing turns up, a quietener.
I can’t really complain about my current employer, my truck is fully kitted out though I’m away for around 4 weeks at a time, I have no problem with truckstops or MSA’s its all paid for ( the marvel of DKV ), so my welfare needs are met. But not all drivers are and they should be on all counts of welfare not just a fridge.

brave words from a man working on a night trunk on the planet zorg …there is also the aspect of stopping, finding somewhere to park, buying crap overpriced food, not being able to utilise a cool place for ( perish the thought you may wish a drink, yoghurt,or even a chilled wet wipe) to use at your convenience whilst tipping or loading…
I don’t work for a company who think its still the 1970s so I have no problem finding somewhere to park because they both pay for it and don’t expect me to max out my hours. And because I don’t work for barely more than minimum wage I can afford to buy stuff whilst I’m out.
I wonder what the answer would be when you went for a job interview and asked about paying for parking and when they said they didn’t ask them when they went home did they sleep in a tent in a layby without being able to get a wash and if they wanted to go to the toilet during the night they had to crap in a bush or a carrier bag? In fact the response to saying they didn’t pay could be "Bush or Carrier bag? " and when they ask what you’re on about say you’re asking them what they use for a toilet on a night after work. Companies that don’t pay for parking need embarrassing into submission and they need it to be made clear it isn’t acceptable by drivers who go for interviews turning down the job because they don’t.

i thnk the answer would go along the lines of…thank you for your time, and we will let you know, goodbye.knowing full well once you close the door behind you, there will be absolutely no chance in a million years of you ever openng it again for that particular company.
any prospective employer being asked that would need to think,do i need this humph on my back as an employee or would it just be easier to spend the rest of my time as an employer with cancer.
Or potentially go onto fridge work, then you have got a big ■■■ fridge on your back all the time!!? would just need to make sure you take your stuff out before you tip or drop the trailer!!!

Good …
When i ran my F10 and F12’s it had the exhaust silencer box at the side,if i ever routed into a town to get a take away ect id wrap it in foil and wedge it in on top of the exhaust until i could stop somewhere suitable for a break, kept it piping hot
Last firm I worked for threatened to “withold” my night out money,if I didn’t start using “secure” parking.
Told them not to plan me any nights out then.
That was the end of that
